Mazdatrix Customer Service = FORKIN AWESOME!

Hey Guys,

I know many of you already order from Mazdatrix, and I've dropped a few dollars there over the last four years myself. Well my last two orders didn't exactly go as planned, and Chris at Mazdatrix stepped right up to the plate to help me out. I thought I'd share my experiences because it's this kind of customer service that will keep me coming back.

The first order I made was for my friend Joel's '83 GSL. He loved my suspension setup (RB + KYB) so I made an order to Mazdatrix for the front and rear RacingBeat springs, and front and rear KYB GR-2 shocks/struts so that we could do the same setup on his car.

At the time I had decided to order from Mazdatrix for a couple of reasons.
1: They carried both the springs *and* the shocks I wanted, so it was a one-stop-shop and would make things easy

2: They don't mind shipping to the UPS Store in Ogdensburg NY (where I can pick up parts and save time and money on trying to ship to Canada, as long as I add the UPS store as a "secondary address" on my VISA) and

3: They don't mind taking VISA from a guy in Canada

So that was back on April 17th. They promptly shipped the stuff to Ogdensburg, and as usual, I procrastinated at picking it up.

Almost a month later I picked it up on my way down to Sterling's place in New York. I brought the springs/shocks home, and gave them to Joel with instructions to take them to our trusted Mechanic and have them installed (yes, there are some things I won't do myself, and suspension is one of them).

Joel's car wasn't out of storage yet, so it was another month before we went to get them installed. So mid-June, we put the car into the mechanic's and get a call back saying that they were the wrong springs! Crap... I went and checked and sure enough they had sent me the right shocks/struts for a 1st gen, but they had sent me a perfect 4-set of 2nd gen springs by accident!

I thought this would be a loss I'd have to eat. It had been over two months since I made the order, and most places won't even give you the time of day after that long. On top of which, even if they did replace them, I'd have to make another trip state-side to pick them up, since that's where I had them shipped to originally, which would take time and gas money to do.

I called Mazdatrix and Chris was very apologetic. He not only replaced the springs with the right ones, he shipped the new set directly to my house in Canada, taking the difference in shipping charges for it! At this point, he has probably taken a loss since the springs themselves retail for about $200 for the set, and the shipping he has paid has most definitely eaten up any small profit he would have made on them! How many companies would do that?

Another order that I made was for a presilencer. You see, I had been given this set of headers by a friend of mine, and stupidly assumed that they would be the same length as the Racing Beat headers (which bolt to a presilencer, which bolts directly to your stock midpipe). The idea was that I'd get the headers installed (bolted to cat), then buy a presilencer and install that (replacing cat) then buy a muffler and replace that, and boom, I'd have the RB system one part at a time, using my free headers.

When I got the headers installed, I found out that they were *much* longer, going almost to the end of my catalytic converter on their own.

Long story short, the exhaust shop did headers-to-straight-pipe-to-stock-muffler, charging me an outrageous price for it, without even calling me to make sure it was okay to change the plans. Header-to-cat wouldn't have been too loud and crappy sounding, but header to straightpipe was absolutely horrible. And to top it all off, since the headers were too long my presilencer (which I had already ordered) was useless.

They also found that my midpipe was cracked, and so even if I wanted to build the regular "Racing Beat" exhaust, I'd have to replace the midpipe!

At that point, I decided I was going to go with the RB "street port" system because of all the extra I'd have to pay for the midpipe and header, but I now had a $180 presilencer that was of no use to me.

Chris didn't *have* to take it back, after all I did order it, I paid for it, and he sent it, deal done! But he did take it back and gave me credit for it!

All of this to say that my dealings with Mazdatrix have been of the highest quality, and I wouldn't hesitate to shop there again knowing that they treat their customers well.

They are real good. I order from them often..

MosesX605 07-08-06 01:40 PM

Yeah, I've had nothing but good service from them as well. They had no problem shipping my struts/shocks via USPS and were very prompt in dropping them off at the post office for shipping. Definately recommended from my corner as well.

PS: why the heck won't you install the springs/shocks? It's like two bolts in the rear and six in the front per side. A trained parakeet could do that job. (no offense)

yeah chris is great! he helped me out a ton and was really nice even tho i totally screwed up the timing of them recieving my payment. he was more than happy to answer a ton of questions i had....two thumbs way up!!

Yep, I order from them all the time,
+1 for the great customer service, excellent parts selection, and reasonable shipping & return policies. They'll ship small items Priority mail to Alaska!.. instead of UPS or FedEx which cost alot more for 2nd day air, like most other online stores.

They were even nice enough to show me around the place when I stopped by there, while on vacation last year.. nice folks.

Mazdatrix FTW!

Yep I agree with Jon, MazdaTrix is a great place for 7 parts and advice, excellent service on all my transactions. And when there was a minor goof up, they made it right.

They are the best place to order parts

craigw1 07-08-06 05:50 PM

i've ordered a few things from mazdatrix, and i'm here in CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA. It takes the stuff 7 days to arrive...thats right, 7 days. He takes my visa no problem. Stuff i've bought include the tii into sa front bracket and the modified sump. I will continue to shop there.

steve84GS TII 07-08-06 08:20 PM

Yep,they are a great bunch of guys.
I drove 500 miles down to their shop in Signal Hill a few times, when John was building my S5 engine. He gave me the full tour, even showed me their Vert race car which was still a bare shell at the time (late 01)
About the time I switched over to S5 controls,my new engine developed an external coolant leak.I talked to John and covered the basics. When I couldnt lock it down to a simple problem,I pulled the block and took it back down to them.Turned out that one of the brand new Mazda rotor housings had a casting flaw near the water jacket.John totally rebuilt the engine, broke it in on the stand, then pressure tested it for me.No charge, and they even restarted the 3 year warantee.
I was already a steady customer for years because they sell and ship RB parts at three times the speed that RB does.Never had any bad experiences. They remind me of the buisness I work for...small,friendly,capable and customer service oriented.

man, this thread makes me wanna go to their site...... hmmm, what do I need from them?

I got some brake lines and a mazdatrix rotor hat from them. came quick! A+

"A trained parakeet could do that job."

My sister and I had a trained Cockatiel when we were in highschool; however, once it figured out how to drink beer from the top of a can-brim and chew on our cigarette tobacco, it was never interested in turning a wrench!

Seriously, Mazdatrix is an institution of reliable good service for our RX's.

vipernicus42 07-12-06 07:20 PM

Note to self: get trained parakeet for spring jobs ;)

The only reason I don't do them is because of some crazy horror stories I've heard from friends/mechanics about what happens when your spring compressor isn't put on quite right... though that recent thread detailing how to do front suspension was really good, and if I ever have to do it again on *my* car, I probably would. For Joel... well he can go to Glen's place. Besides, Glen has been a friend of my family for years, and barely charges us anything at all.

Anyhoo.. didn't want to get the thread *too* much off topic, but I had to respond somehow

:p:

Ya, there good. Fast shipping

boyee 07-13-06 01:56 AM

another kudos for mazdatrix from me! very fast shipping even on ground.

one time i ordered an emergency part to get my car ready for rotaryfest. they called me up the next day to confirm my overnight shipping because of the high price for it.

customer service = outstanding!

Hyper4mance2k 07-13-06 02:13 AM

They are fawking awesome! I ordered parts last week 2nd day air and they didn't arive. I called them and they were all over it gave me all the info i needed and tod me to call them right back if anything came up. I called UPS and those ass holes decided that they thought the address that Mazdatrix shipped to was wrong and shipped it to my old address. So i told UPS to fuck off and they better send where Mazdatrix tod them to ship it and I got it the next day.

fcdrifter13 07-13-06 02:14 AM

+eleventy I used to order there alot.

1984_Lil'Ray 07-13-06 01:45 PM

PercentSevenC 07-14-06 12:48 AM

I have nothing to add to this thread other than...

+1 to what everyone else has said.

Siraniko 07-14-06 08:05 AM

Walk-in service, I will say both Mazdatrix and Racing Beat are good. But when it comes to phone customer support, Mazdatrix is #1.
