mazda 12a turbo carbed or fuel injected

i found a 12a turbo on ebay, and i hear it's carbed from the seller, but i keep reading everywhere that they were efi, can someone clear this up because i want to know if i can buy.

thanks

Is it a stock J-spec 12AT? Then it's EFI. There are, however, a lot of people who have built turbo carbed 12As.

k its the jdm turbo 12a so it's efi, would anyone know where i can get a ecu for it then, so i can still use it lol

You will have a hard time trying to find the stock ecu. If you are wanting keep the efi, you will most likely have to run MegaSquirt which is expensive for the minimal power the 12AT will make.

MegaSquirt isn't that expensive. A basic fuel-only setup is cheaper than any aftermarket carb.

i did not know this maybe i mite be better of going efi fuel only when i go turbo since theres not a lot of help boost preping carbs. except hanger 18 holley dp guide.

stock used 2 ecu's in parallel, its weird...

most people who do (did?) the 12at swap use a fuel only ecu, like a haltech f10...

megasquirt would be just fine too

That's assuming you already have all the EFI hardware and just need the ECU.

that would mean mani throttle body injectors any thing else iam missing. mani would be 200, injectors would be free sinc ei have a hook up. throttle body for side draft , need to price. i all ready got the fuel setup need in the mail.

You'll need what you mentioned above, plus fuel rails, various sensors (intake air temp, throttle position, coolant temp, wideband O2 highly recommended if you're going turbo, but narrowband can be used), and a way to mount the injectors in the manifold. DIYAutoTune sells the GM sensors, which are generally the easiest to use with MegaSquirt.

Personally, for a turbo car I'd want to be able to control ignition, too, but I haven't done as much research on what you need for that, since my MegaSquirt project will be NA and use a dizzy, at least initially.
