"Maxorber"...?
 

Good evening, y'all.

Tax season is upon us and what do you know - I've been given back my money! With that in mind I decided to look for parts again to bring my 7 back up to speed.
I know everyone most likely uses Tokico/KYB, but the name Maxorber comes up and seems to be fairly cheap, like a set of two front struts for the price of one KYB GR-2, etc. etc. Growing up without a lot of money, and having to work for everything I wanted, the cheap side of me screams "GET IT! WHAT A HELL OF A DEAL!" but the rational, I-love-my-RX7 side says "Don't, it probably sucks shit, or will die within a year". I looked up the word Maxorber on here and nothing comes up. I looked it up on google and only sales listings appear with no reviews.

I wanted to ask if anyone had bought these and tried them out, and what their verdict is. I'm still most likely going to go for the KYB's, or Tokico, but I'm just a little curious.

If it seems too good to be true...save your money and buy good stuff and do the job once with no regrets.

I've never heard of that brand, either - and have been running Tokico Blues for the last 20 years and they're still as good now as they were brand new. You get what you pay for, so don't fall for the false economy of 'cheap' parts.

quick google reveals, its a Chinese brand, with a bunch of other Chinese llc's behind it. stay way, buy kyb and dont look back.

Buy tokico or kyb. I bought that brand for my wife's Altima and they are total junk. Crap welds, thin metal and rattle like it's not even bolted in. Save your money and buy the good stuff.
Pm me if you want tokicos or kyb for the rears. I have a set of each, but ended up going coilovers. Kyb were ran in my fb for 1 year, still like new and the tokicos never installed although bought used, still in excellent condition.

I agree the Tokico's are the way to go, but I also agree with your growing up poor and not wanting to waste money perspective.

Here's a trick I used while lusting for the Tokico's that might work for you.

Instead of buying them new, which even if I convinced myself the wife wouldn't allow, I hunted for some used in good shape.

My thinking was that there are probably more RX-7 projects with Tokico shocks than corresponding miles on those projects so likely there are some good Tokico's out there someplace someone doesn't need.

It took some looking (a month or two as I recall) but eventually I found two practically new pairs for both front and rear for about half price:

(Same deal with that practically new set of Eibach springs in the picture, $50 for those from a forum member).

Like I said in my post I have tokicos I won't be using. Never installed in my car. I'll let them go cheap or if you want a full set of kyb I have those with about a years worth of miles ~6k on them for cheap. Pm me if interested.
