For Manntis, he deserves it

I posted this in the thread about Manntis' crash, but I thought that it needed more attention. I'm sure we all feel for Manntis' loss of Pamela. As anyone who has spent some time on this forum can tell you, that car was a one-of-a-kind, and I dare say Manntis is one of the most respected members of the 1st gen forum.

I think that we should all vote Pamela in as the Featured car, to honour her, and Manntis' loss. I'm really sorry she had to go that way buddy, We all mourn for ya.

There's the thread, now EVERYBODY get in there and show our support. Let's not only get a 1st gen in there, let's get PAM in there. Even if you've already voted, post a vote-change and say why.

My Sentiments go out to you Manntis. Keep your spirits up man.

Geoff has a nice car, with the clear taillights and all... but his isn't currently running, and we can vote him in some other month...

Stick with Geoff if you will, I doubt anyone will diss ya for it. After all, he *does* have a nice car. But I'd probably vote ACJ13B in over IoTus simply on account of the 10sec 1/4 mile and that awesome wheelie!

yeah been trying to get steve up there for like 2 years ?

"but his isn't currently running, and we can vote him in some other month..."

neither is manntis's car so umm yeah.... ;)

i voted for geoff because he owns the nicest, cleanest fb ive ever seen in person, he is a friend of mine, and im sick of seeing that fc with big rice cannons on the top of the forum

i dont even take into consideration that geoff has clear taillights.... they are nice but that dosent make the car...

I am glad Manntis is ok. That sounds like a nasty crash. That is one of the delimas of owning a sweet original older car: do you park it and just look at it; or drive it and enjoy it like it was designed for, even though you will be wearing it out and risking a crash?
I am sure he will find a suitable replacement. But why vote it the car of the month if it is gone? Car of the month should be (IMO) a street legal car in current running condition.

vipernicus42 06-21-03 08:15 PM

In my opinion, the car doesn't have to be street legal. ACJ13B's car definitely deserves some nomination, because he's worked so hard and pulled off something that must have been very hard to do.

I think that Pamela deserves nomination because
1. It would be a great way to honour a great car which is no longer with us
2. It would be a great tribute to Manntis, and our forum's way of saying "we're all with ya, we all feel for ya, and your car really roxored"

Dont vote for my car till i get the new engine in! THEN it would actually be a car to vote for!

worlord 06-22-03 12:26 PM

my only problem with voting for manntis is this..

If your car was just totaled would you like to see a picture of it in perfect condition every day when you signed on to the forum.

just my opinion

MosesX605 06-22-03 12:30 PM

I know Manntis personally, and I was the first person he called when the accident occurred. IMHO, he'd appreciate the gesture of us at the forum giving Pam the recogntion it deserved. Like I've said earlier, I've ridden in the car, and I've driven the car. Pam was the most perfect 1st gen I have ever seen. It deserves the COTM title, and now that she's met an unfortunate end, this is really the last chance to get her up there.

So I say, vote for Pam and Manntis, and show our support.

excitingleopard 06-22-03 03:23 PM

The car doesn't have to be street legal to be the best car...

Manntis has [had] a great car, but I must say, I've seen better. Sucks the BIG one that he wrecked, and I'm not going to say 'shit happens'. But why should we lie and vote for his car to make him feel good? Not trying to be harsh either...

^^^Ignore that if you'd like...

My vote goes to Pam if for no other reason, her heritage:D And because I do't have my other fb pics in front of my face at the moment.

excitingleopard 06-22-03 03:28 PM

Oh wow. Screw that guys. No offense to anyone, but I gotta go for Bern's car.;)

excitingleopard 06-22-03 03:47 PM

Ok... inquiry: Are we voting on the CARS, or the the PEOPLE AND THEIR CARS?

It seems to me that people have been voting because Manntis is awsome, even though other cars may look better...

I with draw all votes of mine.

excitingleopard 06-22-03 04:07 PM

I think someone needs to start a thread on this same subject, only make it a poll, with all the most popular canidates. There aren't many, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

How about we start one thread for ONLY the nominees, to post their pics, etc.

Then everyone will know what they're voting on. Start a new thread for the actuall voting.

Oh... and like BATMAN said, divide it up into 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen.???

excitingleopard 06-22-03 04:21 PM

Oh, what the hell.... Manntis and Pam, he's a great guy.;)

vipernicus42 06-22-03 10:44 PM

Hehe... well they *are* at some point supposed to look at the big thread, pull out the most popular ones, and put up a poll or something. I think with enough push from the 1st gen community we could get Pam and Manntis up there w/o the whole ugly necessity of the poll.

And yeah, some guys have cars with more mods... or cars with more bling, but I honestly think it'd be harder to find a more mint -SE, except perhaps for that amazing single-owner lady who got hers stolen and restored (I think her name is Stacy, but I'm foggy right now). And Pam hasn't been through that whole ordeal. She'd be another nomination just because of her amazing story.

But there are many months ahead of us, and yeah this IS the last chance to get Pam up there. I think it'd be a great tribute.

I don't think we're *supposed* to be voting on people and their cars, but in the 1st gen section at least, we're so close knit that we can't know the car *without* knowing the owner.

Anyone with over 200 posts here should *easily* be able to identify Pam, IoTus' car, DirectFreak's car and a few others given a series of pictures. Or just the fact that we refer to her as "Pam" instead of "Manntis' Car" shows that we know the stories behind these cars, and who they belong to.
