Malpassi regulator drop in pressure out of boost while RPMs increase
If I rev the engine without hitting boost the pressure drops a few pounds. When I hit boost I cant watch the boost and pressure guage to tell whether it goes up 1:1... but it does increase.
I found the italian link for the pdf and its the 241_turbo model. The way I have it installed is... barb at the top of the pic closest to you is my boost line, the barb sticking out of the bottom is the return line. the 2 facing you in the pic that are below the boost barb are the outlets 1 to carb and 1 to fpg, and the barb furthest away (little brass barb at the back of the pic) is my fuel feed line. I dont have any specific directions for this regulator and this pdf is all I have seen which isnt much help on specs. http://www.officinamalpassi.it/images/Malpassi.pdf Is it normal for this type of regulator to drop a few pounds while reving up? Trying to figure out if I should be in the market for a 4309 or similar... but if the 4309 does the same thing then maybe its ok? http://contrails.free.fr/images/large_241bild.png |
Didn't realize until I read it, but the 4309 drops fuel pressure 1 psi for every 2 psi that the vacuum drops. Perhaps your Malpassi does the same. Boost pressure however remains at a 1:1 ratio

Maybe I can install a 1 way check valve. Just doesnt seem right to drop pressure as I accelerate considering consistent pressure the mikuni was meant to run NA. It's like I go lean for a bit and then bam according to the wideband.
I wish I had the money to go FI. I've got the frankencarb thing going on but tuned to the point where I can use her as a daily driver. Thanks for the pdf link to the 4309 Trochoid |
