Magic! Disappearing coolant!

It's baffling me as to where it's going!

I've got an '84 GSL, and there's no leaks anywhere that I can see for the radiator or any coolant hoses, the fluid level in the radiator is all the way to the top, BUT... the reserve/reservoir has to be replaced every couple of weeks. It sucks it all the way down to the bottom! The level in the radiator (again) is still up to the top.

There's no leaks that I can see, and the engine runs fine which would lead me to believe that there's no cracks that's making it leak into it anywhere (though I know it's no guarantee.)

I am clueless as to where it's going....

Any ideas?

Your intake manifold o rings could be leaking. Look at the top of the engine where the intake manifold bolts to the engine. If theres coolant there, your o-rings are bad.

My old '83 once had a coolant leak in one of the heater hoses that only manifested itself at 5k rpm.

Thanks for the suggestions, but again, I have absolutely no external signs of anything leaking (with the exception of the A/C condenser's dripping in this humid climate.)

its called evaporation

Gee. Mine doesn't "evaporate" like that.

He he as I found out the guy that installed my intake manifold last didn't put any o-rings in it. There is coolant in the dips of the top of the intake. However there is no other noticeable effect. Car barely looses coolant. So since a PITA to remove the manifold, I'm leaving it like that for now.

hey ive got that same problem...

ive been told to take off the manifold and weld up the coolent passages...

is this a good idea?
