I have an 85 FB with a T2 motor. I'm running with my stock tranny now but would like to upgrade. A friend of mines has a 93 tranny I could have for FREE.

Will this tranny fit on my car w/o tearing appart my center console???? Can't find anyone goin in this direction since the T2 tranny is so good.

i think even with a t2 tranny you might have to trim the transmission tunnel to get the shifter to fit as it sits more towards the rear of the car compared to the 12a tranny

but since its free id go ahead and use that 93 transmission untill u got a t2

to install the T2 trans, you need not trim the trans tunnel. you use the tail shaft, shift rod, shifter and mount from your FB trans. i have no idea if the FD trans will bolt up. my guess is that the tunnel lengths will be different as in the T2 trans and i do not believe that the FB tail shaft will work properly.

Ok. So I got the trans now & finally was able to speak with my mechanic. He's never attempted this but he guaranteed he could get it done. Hopefully soon I'll have my T2 motor,the FD trans, & the 8.8 diff on my FB.
