Lsd in a 83

Hi guys, I have a 1983 not sure on the model. It has drum brakes and a open diff. I know some models came with a lsd and disc brakes. If I wanted to swap it, which I do. How hard is it? Is it a direct bolt type thing? Any help provided would be great. Thanks in advance!

its a direct bolt in. the drum and disc axle housings are different, so the simplest way is to find a complete disc brake rear end and exchange the whole thing.

its 6 suspension bolts, plus 2 brake cables*, drive shaft, and hydraulic brake line, very easy.

the differential 3rd members are the same except** for there being an open or limited slip, so you could swap the whole thing***, or just put the LSD into the open case.

*you do need the disc brake cables with the disc brake calipers, as the drums use a different one.
** the 79-83 have a smaller axle diameter, so you have to make sure you have the compatible diff to the axle.
*** 83 uses the small axle, but it uses the larger 83-85 driveshaft flange.
