wow those are some really low prices. are you talking about full long block motors or just some housings because i know for certain that REBUILD kits start at 800!!

a better car to have to do the swap with is the GSL-SE, came with a 13b , and EFI. but if and when you find a 13bt try to get the turbo II wiring harness and CPU along with the engine. a s4 13bt is 182 horse power and a s5 13bt is 200 horse power FYI

mikey D 11-10-04 11:23 AM

it depends on what your looking for
Im talking about J spect motors. A J spec motor is the same as a US spec motor except there is egr on the lower intake manifold on an US spec motor.

an s4 jspec complete motor should be 600-800 bucks
and an s5 complete motor should be 800 bucks.

you're looking at a real project if you want to swap a 13bT in for a 12a.

MarkPerez 11-10-04 04:55 PM

not to mention , all. engine, transmission, wiring harness / ECU for under a grand
without rebuilding. i'm not saying it can't be done. hell, i got a whole t2 for my -SE
and my -SE cost me $ 150.00 dollors. i got the reel deel. the t2's in great shape engine and the car. so it can be done. keep an eye open because when reel deel's come by and you miss it , there's somebody right behind and there gonna jump on it ,,fast. good luck

I swaped an '88 13B into my car without too much hassle. As long as you don't go over 250hp, the stock tranny will hold up. The rear end will be fine too. As long as you have ALL the wiring for the engine and have the ECU, you can do this swap pretty easily. Only 4 wires have to be spliced into the original FB wiring. The rest just goes from the engine to the ECU.

Its really not all that hard of a swap. The biggest thing is the fuel system since it has to be converted to FI. Use an external pump with a larger return line and FI hose clamps and put a slosh box in you gas tank, and you set.

yea I dont want the fb motor in ther eb/c I want somthing fast. and my 12a is shit right now and I think it needs a rebuild I also want to make real power

Turbo II-FB 11-11-04 08:32 PM

so are you saying that the 12a tranny is compatiable with the turbo II motor?

Turbo II-FB 11-12-04 08:13 AM

???????????

mikey D 11-12-04 12:46 PM

yes a first gen tranny will bolt to a TII motor.

yes , the tranny will fit but you need to use the proper automatic engine counterweight to keep the motor balanced!!!
the problem is the turbo flywheel is 255 mm.. this is a problem since your 85 tranny is designed for a 225mm flywheel... however there is a remedy for this.....

then you get the lightened steel flywheel for the 85 tranny and then your tranny will bolt to the motor...
