Long Story But a Challenge For You

Well, i finally decided to get the GSL running nice and smooth (after having for almost a year but not driving it), so i pulled out the manual to see how to adjust the idle speed and mixture, and wouldnt you know it, but my carb doesnt have the two screws the manual talks about (one right above the other). Anyone know where these screws may be? Also, on the same car, the manual tells me to disconnect some kind of vaccuum line before i check the timing, but they dont show where it is...which one am i supposed to disconnect? Also, when i started working on this car it was originally because it was idling rough, i solved this problem by finding vaccum lines that were cracked and corroded. Those are now fixed, and my car idles smooth, but when i rev it up (which is much nicer now:)) and let off the gas and let it go back to an idle, it makes little "backfire" noises every now and then...it never did this befoire i fixed the hoses. Any ideas as to why it might be doing this? Thanks

If I remember correctly, the mixture adjust screw is near the center of the carb like where the haynes manual shows the 2 screws. But the idle adjust screw is off too the right over by the linkage.

The Vacum advance hose that they are telling you too pull is on the dist I beleive.

P.S. I really liked those popping noises =], but they went away when I removed the emmission vacuum crap.
