Locating Horn

I have a 1983 Rx 7 and I am looking to disconnect the HORN. I recently replaced steering wheel and the new unit causes the Horn to continuously go off. In all my research I have not been able to find a way to fix this issue. I am thinking of just DISconnecting the horn as this car is not used for anything but auto cross events at the moment. Anyone have any ideas of how to easily access the horn? Or any other work around suggested?

Hello, you should be able to go the front of the car look up through the front bumper opening spot the horns. Then unplug the wire on each horn unit, although I am basing this on an 85”. I had a similar issue where the horn wouldn’t stop, disconnected as I stated. Then took the steering wheel off and the plastic pieces that float when you press the horn button was broken grounding the connection. Hope that helps.

The best fix would be to remove the steering wheel and cap off the horn wire.

Ok, I appreciate the info. I will check that out soon.
Although I dont recall seeing any wires after I detached my original steering wheel which definitely had me confused... My new (MOMO) steering wheel has the wires for this but I was not able to connect to anything. Rather strange but I will double check and update on what I find.

Can you post a pic of the hub and wires coming out of the horn button?

The horn is controlled with the little brass peg on the combo switch that's in contact with a ring around the back of the hub and the steering column itself completes the circuit when the button is pressed. You've got a short somewhere between there.
Usually aftermarket horn buttons have one wire going to the ring at the back, and either a metal prong sticking out the side to contact the hub if it's all metal or another wire connected with the part that's in contact with the steering shaft.

Found the issue

So I found out that my new steering wheel’s ground wire was loose and contacting the metal part of the steering column that would activate the horn continuously. I capped it for now and that seemed to resolve the issue. I know it’s a temporary workaround but I appreciate all the info.
