Question for you audio system types, best buy has this deal on Lightning Audio subs/box/amp....for 170ish which is a great price subs are 4 ohm and 500w peak 250w continuous...heres the ling http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....0&type=product ...i know they arn't JL audio or RF but im going to be in college and i dont want an expensive system stolen...is this a good deal, will they at least have a nice sound to them?

Nice but they give you 4ohm subs. The amp puts out its most power at 4ohm MONO which means
you'd want 2 8ohm subs or 2 dual voice coil 4 ohm subs so you could make a single 4 ohm load.
Or with the dual coils stereo 2 ohm loads :)
Still seems like a good deal, just make sure you bolt that box down!

lightening audio is decen't for cheaper brands ive heard some of there systems and there good you should be pleased expecially with the added open space of an rx-7

With a 4ohm mono amp you want two 4 ohm single voice coil subs and wire them parallel. Makes 2 ohms to each speaker. I had a 600watt mono amp running 2 Alpine 10s. Very nice. As for lightning audio. Suckage. You can get good quality brands on eBay for cheap. It is worth it. The amp that comes with the set is a two channel so it's kinda dumb to run it mono to two subs when it's all ready for two subs. That puts too much stress on the amp for not much more power. A mono amp you don't have any choice for running two subs. You have to put more stress on it. The specs for the amp are wacky. So 150 watts RMS but 450 watts max. Right. No amp has a max that's over twice as much as the RMS. Even if it can do 450 that's for one sub bridged. Not for each sub. And you have a two sub box. Would be kinda silly to have two subs and only run one. That amp would be better for the midranges. No good for subs. I don't skimp when it comes to electronics.

It'll be good enough for what you're looking for. Once you're into school and settled in with a job and have some extra cash you can always upgrade.

i got a single ghetto kenwood 10" in the se and it bumps pretty good with just a 350 watt amp

i want something more powerfull though i want it to rack my nuts if i turn it up all the way

the system will sound fine for a cheap system if i grab a good face and some pioneer speakers....better subs can come later on, tough to work durring the fall with sports.

lightning audio sucks, sorry man. But if all you're looking for is that thump, then it would be fine. Also it depends what kind of music you listen to. It would be fine for rap, because rap dosen't require much sound QUALITY for that hard hitting bass, but if you ever listen to rock and stuff, you'll be greatly disappointed, lightning audio's amps aren't the most tune-able out there, and after hearing a SWEETASS system setup then you go back to a lighting audio complete system then you'll really be able to tell the difference, and you'll want to go bigger and better, so save yourself some time and money and spend some extra money now and invest in a system to stay with. This all comes from a personal experience.

im going to check them out a little later on because im not sure, i have heard some good systems so i know what to compare, and i know that they won't sound top of the line, but also no one wants their thousand dollar system stolen and where the car will be parked most of the time there is a good chance of this, but we'll see thanx for the feedback

so basically you know your going to be buying the system for soem one else? if you know it would get stolen , dont waste your money. or do a good job hiding them.

although im considering replacing the storage bins with a custom box, a guy in the audio forum has a nice post on how to do it.

I have infinity reference speakers and concept audio peakers in mine, they were REALLY cheap, and sound great .

can you give us a link? I was thinking of doing that too, but can't find a good wright up.
