They are the same, they just added a new year each time. Don't know what year they began installing the sticker though. With broken windows and window tinting, it's getting rarer to find them intact.

thank you lol , you proved that they dont have just a different year on them :icon_tup:

steve84GS TII 01-28-07 01:09 AM

Never seen one on an SA,just the FB's.
Since 80 was the first victory year listed, then it would stand to reason that the 81's model year would be the first to get the sticker.....which jives with my previous statement.

*Sigh*........still waiting for someone to make duplicates of them.Id really like a pair for my 84.

84RX_Se7en 01-28-07 01:13 AM

Steve: Check rx7doctors first pic. It seems in the later models produced in '80 they probably started slapping them on 'em. :)

84RX_Se7en 01-28-07 01:14 AM

Also... I can see if I can somehow remove the one off of my currently dead '84 to mayhaps send your way... that or scan the image to use to order decals. Hmmm..... yea....................................... someone needs to take high quality pics of each year and then have them made into decals. Group buy!

dj55b 01-28-07 01:25 AM

anyone know if this was a US thing only ... because i've never seen any on any Canadian Car.

Nailbanger 01-28-07 12:19 PM

What do these signs represent? Thx.

HIM_Tattoos 01-28-07 12:35 PM

I'm a leo......sorry but no one else said it.....and yeah what the hell does this sticker mean I have it on my GSL.

neektar 01-28-07 01:10 PM

It's just a sticker mazda put on our cars to add a bit of glamour. Sorta like Mazda gloating.

ISMA is just a competition Mazda ran using rx-7, the years posted on the sticker are all the years Mazda won the Manuf. prize.

It's just a sticker, not a measure of model.

dido on the group buy , i noticed that the 81 i have is placed in a different spot then rx7doctors' at .
it would be cool to get all the years .
i think that they only put them on the drivers side

trochoid 01-29-07 12:07 AM

Someone last year proposed reproducing these stickers. Apparently it turned out be another one of those deadend projects. Removing them for scanning is near impossible, it would be better to scan one whil still on the 1/4 glass.

IMSA is the International Motorsports Association and GTU is the class that the 7s ran in. Still to this day, the RX7s have more wins in IMSA than any other car/model. Mazda was quite quite proud of it back in the day, as they should be, since they won every championship from 80-85. Iirc, the 2nd gens won one or 2 of them also.

No other manufacturer has won as many championships, let alone consecutively. The 1st gens kicked ass and left all of the piston competition holding thier male parts in thier hand wondering what to do next to try and beat the rotarys.

I got a guy that says he can reploduce them without a year on them. I ll try and get something to show you guys. He scaned it off my 85.

Rx Seven 01-29-07 01:35 AM

^If you dont mind me asking, but why cant he put the year on them?

as a generic one , i can see the practicality of it . but why not put all the years on them ? i am sure that they are all the same size sticker ?? but what material are they made out of ? they seem to hold up pretty well for the age that they are

twinkletoes 01-29-07 10:08 PM

Uhh, thats why i don't have mine, tint.

ray green 01-30-07 07:55 AM

I have them on all four of my 84 and 85 GSLs, while they are similar they do differ a bit from year to year. They are made of a vinyl-like thin plastic. Here's some photos:
