Leaky Oil Metering Pump - fix?

While I have the 13B out of the GSLSE, destined for my MG, I'm doing a little cleaning.

I notice a lot of oil and dirt built up around the Oil Metering Pump. So much that I can't tell what is causing the leak.

I could clean the area throughly and later check to see were the leak is coming from specificly. But while it is so easy to work on, I'd like to fix the leak now.

What usually leaks on these? The oil lines look ok. Maybe I should replace these anyways. Could it be a gasket?

I'm also replacing the oil pan gasket since I have to remove the oil pan for some mods.

Well, you have 2 things you need to check.

OMP-Oil Metering Pump

1st is the oil metering lines; cracks in the boot(where the line goes from plastic to rubber and has the elbow) can cause leaks to drip all over the omp, and drip around to the headers (read FIRE...really bad, happened to me on one occasion).

2nd is the OMP itself; if you find that the OMP lines are in good condition, the O-Rings inside the OMP can go bad, its a pretty straightforward rebuild, getting to it seems to be the biggest hassle. I beleive there are writeups on rebuilding it on the internet....

Josepi,
thanks!

RX-Midget gave me this write-up in another Thread.

I will be ordering new lines, O-rings and whatever gaskets I need. Doesn't seem to be an expensive fix. The area is a total mess.

Thanks for the link. I'll be ordering some parts from him very soon :)

It's MOP, not OMP, read the FSM.
