Leaky Oil Metering Pump?

I recently removed and reinstalled the oil metering pump on my '84 GS 12A. During the process, I applied a thin film of sealer to the existing gasket - in an attempt to stop a small leak. It helped, but now I am noticing fresh oil on and around the pump linkage & spring. Does anyone know if these pumps can be rebuilt to stop a leak? Are there internal seals or gaskets that can be replaced? If possible, I'd like to try that before I lay down $150 for a new pump. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, but, really, 99% of the time it's just the gasket. Get a new one!

Yes, I'll put on a new gasket, too. But it appears that there is a leak coming from the vicinity of the linkage/spring and no evidence of oil around the edge of the gasket. It's dripping off of the spring. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, sounds like it could be that O-ring that is part of the Lowe kit. Give it a try....you may even be able to find a similar O-ring for cheap.

Right on.

I also bought the Rebuild kit and Have Never Had A Problem with it.
Peice of Cake to Rebuild.
(Just Make Sure that you use some Fresh Oil on ALL The Internal Parts) I Talked to them and they said if you don't you could end up with the stuff inside not sealing right. i.e. Back to Leaking Again.
One of the Best $15.00 Projects.
To bad there not all that Cheap.
