konig rewind -- have you 1st gen guys seen these?

http://www.konigwheels.com/catalog_p...ID=1&ss_id=430

i'm seriously considering gettign a set for my '84 -SE once she's on the road.

i've found them on the net in 14" 4x114.3, even :) looks like they normally go for between $100 and $150 per wheel.

lovintha7 07-03-05 08:12 PM

Looks like some Torq Thrust wheels, or panasports.

cpt_gloval 07-03-05 08:19 PM

they weigh 13.3lbs in the 14" variety, too :)

ot81to 07-03-05 08:27 PM

I saw the 14" rewinds brand new for $350 + shipping on ebay.

rmarkc 07-04-05 09:08 AM

I was told the ones with the 4x114.3 bolt pattern are only available with 0 offset. You may want to double check the fit on your SE.
If I could get 15x7 4x114.3 with 40mm offset I'd be all over them for my 7.

LongDuck 07-04-05 11:39 AM

So you guys don't have to keep going out there to look;

Looks *way* more like Panasports than Torq Thrusts.

Daddy likes...

If they offered those in a 15 x 7 w/4 x 110 for the non -SE first gens, I'd love to have a set for my car. I would even consider letting the Ronal's I have now go, for a set of those with the dark graphite center and polished lip.

Hyper4mance2k 07-04-05 03:52 PM

damn dude those Ronals are sic....

So, I take it you think I got a killer deal when I bought the car, complete with those Ronal's and new falken 502 205/50-15's all for $500, and drove it home.
Only issue with the tires/wheels is a slight rub on the sway bar at full lock. Solution, don't turn to full lock.....:rlaugh:

ch0g0nda 07-04-05 04:30 PM

Sick Rona's Rougue; I'd keep em just for the exclusiveness... Tonnes of AE86's roll around in rewinds already.

Yes I would also get some of those if they offered them.

Rogue, I now know exactly what my car would look like with your wheels.LOL.

those in 4x110 would definetaly rock. nice weight, nice look.... i dig em!

keltic 07-05-05 08:21 AM

Actually

They are modeled more after the Japanese market Watanabe's. You can also get those in our bolt patter but with 0 offset which is fine with some flares. The Watanbe's arent cheap like the rewinds...price i mean. My co-worker has ordered a set for his 77 280z so I will let you know how they look upon closer inspection.

Therotaryrocket85 07-05-05 09:10 AM

I like them alot, i think it would be cool of some of the 80s wheels would make a comeback and be reproduced by these companies. With the art of drifting it seems more and more 80s japanese cars are comming back and i see tons of people hunting for classic wheels and not having any luck. I know id buy a set of these or some mesh wheels for a first gen if i still had one :) I really need to get another first gen.

2-piece SSR RS-8s. they weigh marginally more than panasports, but they are a lot easier to repair. this is the only set ive ever seen stateside, although every once in a while ill find a set on ebay.

isaac

cpt_gloval 07-05-05 11:39 AM

that's pretty much exactly what my SE would look like with those rewinds. sweet :)

If those Konig Rewinds were available in 6 lug x 5.5" 15x8 they'd make a great autocross rim.

RacerX7fb 07-05-05 01:34 PM

Those Konig's are more like a Compomotive or Minilite... Panasports have the 'banana' spoke shape

what bolt pattern and how much?

bizarro 07-05-05 01:50 PM

Here's the full spec on these rims...

14x6.0 (Type A +13) 4X114.3 Gunmetal

$650 shipped

frigidmonkey 07-05-05 02:02 PM

now I have to rob someone who has 650 bucks lol

MikeLMR 07-05-05 02:31 PM

just a warning but most of these cheap wheels have a far too low offset to fit on an SE :(

options2rx7 07-05-05 03:43 PM

What is the offset on the 1st gen se?

cpt_gloval 07-05-05 03:44 PM

38mm, iirc.

frigidmonkey 07-05-05 03:55 PM

so too low offset, does that pull the wheels in too far, or push them out too far?

MikeLMR 07-05-05 04:03 PM

too low = 'pushed out too far' they would probaly fit if you had a wide body kit .... but to run a wide body kit and run wheel no wider than you can fit under standard arches with the correct offset is madness.

I have 7" wide wheels on the front of my FB with a 38mm offset and the clearance to the strut is a fraction of and inch ... not a lot of room on the arch side either !

I would suggest 40mm is safer for 7" wide wheels.

earlier cars are going to need somthing closer to 20-25mm offset (i.e a little more of a lip on the outside depending on the design of the wheels)

If they were available, I'd put a set on my Nissan truck. That way, I could have the Ronal's for the '83, and rewinds for the truck:bigthumb: Best of both worlds :rlaugh:

DriveFast7 07-05-05 07:14 PM

Word!

RarisRX-7 07-05-05 07:22 PM

lol@konigs

i used to run with Konigs on my turbo S2000, had 2 fracture at a track meet and one began to fail on a dyno, now i stick with BBS or stock rims, KONIG's are garbage

cpt_gloval 07-05-05 07:24 PM

i've had no problems with the konigs on my civic.

therein lies the difference, my old S2000 was putting down 385 whp, cheapo konigs cracked during wheel spin over small bumps. theyre OK for low stress and low power applications, but if you want decent quality go with someone else.

cpt_gloval 07-05-05 07:34 PM

well there you go. i sure wouldn't put a cheapo set of wheels on my 385hp car.

Those are WATANABE's!!! :) Even has the signature Watanabe sign right between the two lugnut holes.

BTW, the Konig Rewind's in size 14x7 are only available in -9 offset. You'll need about 1.5" more fender to fit that on our cars.

To settle this once and for all: Watanabe RS-8 MADE BY Speed Star Racing (SSR) Watanabe DOES NOT make a 3-piece rim. Got some on my Rx2 in 4x110 PCD.

1985_RX-7 07-30-05 11:51 AM

I was going to get some rewinds but i got a great deal on Pansport Ultralights and tires.

the only lable on the rim is the Speed Star Racing sticker which has the offset and size/width info, if you want i can snap a pic of it.

how bout these, cost me $70 to polish all four lips and paint all the rims black with high-temp no gloss paint.

greenjack 08-17-05 08:37 PM

Techno Toy sells rewinds for $350 a set.

fcdrifter13 08-17-05 08:42 PM
