killed by a bmw!!

alright...i have an fb gsl-se in real good completely stock condition with 95,000 miles on it and it runs good. is it normal to have gotten killed by a bmw 380i?
it really pissed me off...my first race with this se.

pimpncuba 01-18-05 04:22 PM

380i? maybe 318i. a 380 would mean it is a 3 series body style with an 8.0 liter engine. check the year, some of them are semi fast

Take this shit to the Homo Dancing Queen Forum, aka Kills Section.

Unless you actually killed a BMW, i.e. rag in the gas tank. Then that's cool, glad it worked out in the end.

Don't be to hurt, I got beat by an '86 prelude automatic when I first got my -SE. She just needed some TLC and I could hang (a little) with T2's. BTW I don't think mine was stock

DAVID GRIMES 01-18-05 10:47 PM

My wife drives a '97 BMW 318i and it would spank a bone stock 12A at a distance. The little bastard is pretty longlegged, but I am very surprised it beat your 13B FI in your GSL-SE. You should have had the advantage, 'cause the Bimmer is somewhat tubby.

eViLRotor 01-19-05 12:11 AM

A bone stock -SE just isn't fast, not much you can do.

rx7male 01-19-05 12:15 AM

dude they arent slow... you just gotta know how to drive them!! i beat a 96 5.0 mustang with my BONE stock se... blew the engine in the process but still none the less i beat it... so they arent slow... just gotta know how to drive them...

well its only .1 second slower in the 1/4 than the gutted factory racecar second gen (GTUs)
so how slow is it really

Sounds like neither of you knew what the hell you were doing behind the wheel.

Ditto.

apexme 01-19-05 01:27 PM

haha what was it auto x either way the mustang driver must have had a heavy brakeing foot and an automatic ;)

(or one of those stoplight races that the other person doesn't know they are in) LOL

You've got to remember that your stock SE has about 140hp and about 135lb/ft of torque, and this is with a well-broken in engine. When you go up against some of the newer cars out there, you're liable to get spanked pretty badly because many of them have traction control, DOHC or VVT to boost low-end torque, and they're all going to be piston engines (or you wouldn't be racing them, right?!?).

What this ends up being is an exercise in futility and you race slower and slower cars trying to see what your ride is comparable to. Not much fun in the end. You should just appreciate the SE for being the top of it's form - in it's day. Enjoy the ride, enjoy the sound of the engine, enjoy the looks of the car, and the looks you get from other drivers admiring your vehicle.

I've been 'killed' by my wife driving our Infinit Q45 (93), but it's 278hp, 300 lb/ft torque, and a monster of 5k pounds.

I've been 'killed' by my friend driving his brand new (2004) Mazda3 Sportwagon, 160hp, 165lb/ft torque and about 3,500 lbs.

It's because these cars are 10-20 years newer and have all of the technological advantages over that period of time. Never before in history have you been able to buy the performance that you get straight from the dealer lot. Appreciate your 'classics'.

I got my Ass handed to me by a stock TII. My -SE is bone stock, all original.

I actually beat him on the launch (even though I can't drive  ). But when he shifted to second it was good bye.

A stock TII isn't fast either, therefore an -SE definitely isn't fast.

Anyway, before anyone blows a coolant seal, I still love my slow -SE...:D

I dunno, I was able to hang tight with an 318 with my 82 GSL. Just simple headers/exhaust and a bit of work here and there. Although I'll have to admit, the guy driving the Bimmer was an idiot and from the way he was driving and the sound I could tell he didn't know what the fuck he was doing. haha ;)

Unsupa 01-19-05 03:54 PM

yep, header/exhaust make a world of difference.. especially if the cats become clogged, like on my SE.. my 12a would leave me on top end, until i got the exhaust done.. then i did bus lengths. :)
