key codes

I know that there is a key code stamped on the passenger side door lock cylinder, but can anyone tell me if there is a key code on the ignition cylinder? I had to replace my stock igntion cylinder, so I already have the factory one out. The only marking I see on it are"SL-6". Is this a key code?

Anyone know if I can use this key code to have a key cut?

no, the only key codes are located on the passenger side lock cylinder and the actual key itself

Okay thanks, I was just trying to avoid taking out the lock cylinder in the door, but I guess I'll have to remove it. Thanks

yeah, its very simple to remove the lock cylinder in the door. i'd rather do that than fight with the ignition switch(if there were a code on there).

You really don't have to remove the cylinder to see the key code. Just take the door panel off, clean the top of the cylinder, and with a good flashlight or worklight and the right angles, you can see the code just fine.
