I just got my starter in and it started ONE time I moved it and now when i tun the key it clicks and goes everything goes dead but when i wiggle the positve wire it turns back on but i cant start it AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH I going to kill my car! :uzi:

so what should i do?(not killing the car):dammit:

Clean and tighten the connections.

the clean and tightend the battery clamps that didnt help, just shaking the positive wire turns the car back on but when try to start it, dead it just dead

try a new wire it might be greatly corroded somewhere in the cable.

Sounds like your connections on the starter are loose. Make sure they are clean and retighten them. You might also want to check your ground cables. Could be a short somewhere, so make sure the positive wires to the starter are in really good shape. Good luck!

clean means clean as in bright and shiney. I use sno bowl to do this then rinse well use glasses and gloves , that stuff is mean.

Check all the connections you can.

Like every one else has said make sure everything is clean. Emery cloth works well for this.

Check your Ground wire because it could be giving you greif as well.

Replace spade connectors if you can. The 19+ Year old wire under the crimp on connector may be too fraied to give good signal. Cut the old one off and strip back new wire and apply the conncector that way you know that atleast that is good and clean and tight.

I was having a similar problem earlier this summer. Just as anthrax said, check your spade connector on the starter motor. That's the clutch-starter safety interconnect, which must send a signal to the starter before the starter will even try to turn the engine over (all it'll do is give a little click). Mine had just come loose, so I just had to press it back onto the connection on the starter, but it probably would have been a good idea to replace the connector, or swap it out with a more mechanically sound connection (a screw terminal such as the starter power wires, for instance).

like everyone else said, it sounds like a bad connection. I had the exact same thing when i bought my car. it ended up being the the positive battery terminal.

Might have to replace the cables with new copper ones: the old cables were aluminum, which frays and corrodes more easily than copper. Aluminum was a bad idea, even some house wiring was (is) done that way. Ptuii!

also related is the fusable links, check them. I was able to get my car on, and then when i turned the key, heard a click, and everything died, including the clock. after replacing the links (making my own) they it starts right up every time. just something to check ;)

the spade connector wire looked like it had a heart attack! the wire has no plastic and has just a few strands of metal left!
