jetting a 47mm sidedraft on stock 12a

anyone have any jetting advice for a stock 12a with an OER (weber) sidedraft carb?
im new to this kind of wizardry

anyone?
im really struggling with it :(
i have bought and mounted the recomended F11 emultion, 180 main and 130 air jets, but that did NOT work, it was so pig rich that it stalled at 4000rpm,
now i put in a 145 main, and am running with no airjet, just the big hole upp top, and finally i have the revs, but over 4-5000 it doesnt seeme to pick upp any power.
i really need advice

The first thing you need to do, imho, is learn how these carbs work, which is more simple than you probably think. Go on ebay and find some cheap books on webber sidedrafts that explain how the circuits work and how to tune them and you will be able to get satisfaction.

And.....if funds allow get a wideband o2 sensor, it makes the tuning process childsplay.

No one can tell you what jet to put where cause every car is different, if you do a little reading the you can easily determine what it needs.

This is probably not want you wanted to hear but it's really not too much trouble and the carbs are very simple, especially compared to the nikki and other factory carburators. Three circuits and not too much else.

^^^ good advice. Also, whenever asking for jetting help you should post up current jetting. This should include Idle jets, E-tubes, Main Jet, Air Corrector, Choke sizes, and Accelerator Pump jets. Also, what type of fuel system are you running? What pump? What regulator? What is the fuel pressure set at?

Good advise:icon_tup: Probably running like a pig up top because venturies/chokes are too small

I have posted the setup:P i have no idea what venturis/chokes i have,i dont know what i have either Accelerator Pump jets.im running a small carb pump that runs about 4psi
(wich is in the right range for the carb) i have a large Weber book that i have been reading the last months+ an oer spesific pamflet (but both are written pretty bad) i have mounted a Wideband, so i know whats going on, but not why.
before it ran ok below 4k, it was at about 12:1 AF, but as i get closer to 4k it gets richer and at 9:1 it fall flat on its ass.
i need real advice, i have allready bought 14 jets for this POS, i cant just go around buying this crap blindly (its getting expensive :S )

Is that pump regulated? Weber/oer should be 3psi max, 4psi is pushing it and could be over filling the float bowl and spilling over. Put the 180 mains back in and buy some 160 air correctors. Also, oer's have an adjustable float, if that's been tampered with by anyone who doesn't know exactly what they're doing, it will cause all sorts of problems including running ridiculously rich and sucking in liquid unatomized fuel which doesn't burn for crap

air jets and main jets are not the "set up" figure out what chokes are, Then find out the size and post that up, great advise was giving to you already. time to do some homework.

the unfortunate thing i found with OER carbs is that even though theyre weber clones, only 1/2 the tuning parts are weber, the other half are OER specific. the accel pump jets and the needle/seat are different, and OER does a 1 size fits all strategy with chokes...and they arent marked either... atleast mine werent on my 45mm
