Jet sizes for weber?
I just got a weber 45 dcoe & a fuel regulater and i need different jets. I am currently running 656F9 but my engine shutters and almost dies when i get to about 55mph in third and i'm at about 5K on the tach. I have an 85 GSL with stock port. What size of jets is everyone else using and what psi is everyone runnig? I use mine as a daily driver. Any info would be very helpful, thanks.

anyone?

yea...or not hmmm rotofire, i think 55f9 sounds about right
no i disagree 60F9 is the right size no 60 is to big for the idle jet. no 60 is the right size. rotofire-you're stupid no I'm not |
i ordered the 55F9 idle jets, thanks rotofire for the help

thats slack... how come no one helped this guy out..
did i guve u that ausrotary.com link? goto search and type in URGENT HELP (weber 48IDA) username timmya2.. its covered in that topic |
I would help if I could............ Good luck
|
lol I've been wondering where to find what jet sizes I should be using for a while now.
|
The reason no one helped him is cause he didnt give it time. its 6 hours between his first and last post. he might have to wait till the guy thats is using his style carb takes a look at the forum. Possibly;)

At that much RPM & speed you are into the main circuit of the Weber so idle jets don't mean spit. Sounds like way out of whack jet settings, or a fuel delivery problem. Let me guess, a Holley pump + regulator right?
A way to test fuel delivery problem is to slowly come up to speed (55mph), put it in neutral and let it coast for about 10 seconds, shit to 3rd then mash the gas pedal and see if you get better performance. If you do, your fuel system sucks and can't deliver the proper volume of gas (carb starvation). This should get you close to a good starting point. A friend has gotten good results with the following on his 45 DCOE on a stock 6p 13B: Fuel - 180 Air - 175 Emulsion - F11 Accel - 65 or 70 Idle - 65F8 Fuel pressure: 4psi Fuel Flow: 15 gph |
thanks man, but i have a stock port 12a....a bit smaller. And i have the stock fuel pump, so i just don't think my stock pump can handle this jelly. i'm too bootylicious......oh god what did i just say:shot2:
anywho, i'm going to upgrade the fuel pump, get the new idle jets in and go from there , but the main jets are next |
I see your not the typical forum idiot rx7gen2. Good when someone actually knows what their talking about, which is rare around here.
He's got a stock pump, holley regulator. Other than the symptom he stated she purrs. His jetting is really close to your reccomendations too: Idle Jets - 65 f9 Emulsion Tubes - F11 Main Jets - 180 Air Correction Jets - 175 not sure on the accel. I think he just needs a bigger pump for now. |
What do you have your fuel pressure set at?

I suspected that the fuel system wasn't up to snuff (I read a lot of Paul Yaw's writings). Fuel pressure is only one aspect of the formula, the other is flow.
If you are gonna go to the trouble of redoing the fuel system, you should read this article 1st. http://www.centuryperformance.com/fuel.asp If I did, it would have saved me a bunch of grief when I did my conversion. I tried the Holley Red, the Holley Blue w/ regulator and couldn't stabilize the pressure nor flow. Now I use the stock 2nd gen fuel system (FI in-tank pump) with a Mallory 4307M return style regualtor. My pressure & flow remains rock solid under varing driving loads & conditions. The only downside is getting the friggin connectors for the Mallory reg. You can see my setup at: http://www.theidealchoice.com/Mallory4307M-install.jpg |
