damn i was crazy the 50/50 weight balance and nice suspension worked rediculuslly well..... my friends lil SUV barley flew 25 feet and a foot high..... at about 60 ( this was as fats as he could go b4 hed could barely remain in control

i started of at his speed and got about the same..but my balls grew and after the 3rd try i went 90mph and flew about 6 car lengths and about 4 feet high... do to the way the jumps take off and landing there was barley any heavy pressure put on the car.... but we looking to get it filmed or a pic of it soon so i can show yall haha

Let the flaming begin.

rollin82 10-30-02 01:39 AM

? flamming?

FD Racer 10-30-02 01:44 AM

yeah, i bet you'll catch a lot of shit from some people on this one. I used to jump my 65 ford falcon, so I can relate. It was a piece of crap that I didnt care about, but looking back it was pretty dangerous. Now 90mph, I never went that big.

nimrodTT 10-30-02 01:50 AM

I'm glad I'm not that stupid.

ioTus 10-30-02 03:46 AM

*stares at you like a deer stares into the headlights*.....

Defprun 10-30-02 05:31 AM

Dude! you jumped your car?! :tear:

Lt. Dan 10-30-02 06:22 AM

I guess somebody hasn't seen the video of that kid in the type-R that was jumping a hill....

Dan

85RX7GS 10-30-02 07:21 AM

Cool! Make a video!

moremazda 10-30-02 07:23 AM

Dude he lives in Tucson. In addition to sex and getting waisted the only onther thing is to jump your car out by the mines. I know, I lived there for 22 years!

damon 10-30-02 08:28 AM

82streetracer 10-30-02 10:36 AM

i jump my p71 crown vic all the time.

the only damage that ever occurs is tearing the exhaust off every once in a while.

ex-police car = indestructable.

JEC-31 10-30-02 12:33 PM

If it weren't so common, killing yourself by jumping your car would gather a Darwin award.

If you must ruin a car while performing highly dangerous stunts with no safety equipment, please don't make it an Rx-7. That sort of abuse pretty much destroys suspension, suspension mounting points, oilpan, gas tank, and unibody integrity. Why do you think they totaled over 300 Dodge Chargers making the Dukes of Hazard? That's totaled, as in wrecked and good only for parts. And that was done by professionals, because ameuters (like you) die when they jump cars at speed.

Consider yourself warned.

RacerX7fb 10-30-02 01:05 PM

heck convert the car to SCCA Pro Rally specs, get licensed and hopefully we'll see you at Prescott or Rim of the World. :D

79+80_rx-7 10-30-02 01:10 PM

show me the vid of the type r or whatever

Anyways.. sounds like fun, kinda crule to the rex, but fun... .get some pics!!!!:) And be careful.... loose the balls, or loose your life....

joelwahid 10-30-02 01:14 PM

i guess i could understand a little jumping action as long as your car is a piece, but 90? you are nuts. if anything goes wrong at 90mph, 4 feet off the ground in a tiny ass 2300lb car like that its game over. i would still like to see a picture or video of that, but i wouldnt recommend you do it anymore. hell i wouldnt even jump a rav 4 at 60. when i lived in saudi my friend had a stock nissan patrol and he used to jump that bastard like 4 and a half feet off the ground, onto flat hard ground, but he only had to go like 35 or 40 mph, maybe less i dont remember.

rotaryracer1 10-30-02 11:22 PM

type r video

the video he is talking about is a couple of kids that are filming their friend in his brand new integra type r doing some high speed runs on 2 lane roads in canada with ditches on both sides. while filming the last run the type r catches a little jump in the road and when he lands he starts sliding goes off the road down into a ditch, end over end and lands down into the ditch.totaled out type r and i think the kid lost his life the accident. so its not really smart to do things like that but hey we are not you so have fun and do what your gonna do. just be carefull

Defprun 10-31-02 05:33 AM

Crown Vic?!?!?!

rollin82 10-31-02 12:36 PM

awe sorry rotary

haha damn guys give me some credit...

its not like i didnt think about b4 i did it ...the landing was perfectly smooth ..... i wouldnt just go jump my car of the first thing i think i could catch air at...

thats just plain stupid... i checked the landing area(many times), and for other cars, animals, small children(under saw blades haha ) ect... .. to me it almost felt like i never left the ground but .. i obviouslly did.....

but ya since ya guys got all butt hurt and shit...i will keep the next story to myself

didnt mean to disapoint the rotary gods :(

ps............ oh and its turning into a parts anyway car when i find a better platform rx7

Strider 10-31-02 05:11 PM

I'd have to ask two questions: How many years have you been driving, and did you consider the risks very carefully, not only to yourself, but to others as well (like your family if you get yourself killed.)

In motorcycles I see this all the time with newbies, kids mostly, commonly called SQUIDS. "Hey, I can do a stand up wheelie, in afternoon rush hour traffic! Why should I wear a helmet? Give me a break, I don't care if I get hurt!" My community of Sports Tourers generally refer to them as Dead Men Riding, soon to wad their shiny new GXFZRGOFASTER around a tree somewhere, annoying the non-biker public and raising everyone's insurance rates for those that ride sports bikes.

I'm not about not taking chances and risks, that is if you do everything you can to minimize them first, like wearing a helmet, gloves, boots, leathers, spine protector, or in a car how about a helmet, neck brace, and five point harness. It seems to me that Rollin82 at least tried to mitigate the risk first. Also, its his car to trash it as he sees fit, so long as he understands that too and doesn't hurt anyone or anything else. See my next post:

Why did the Chicken cross the road?

Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?

The adrenaline rush he got from dodging the trucks blew the cholesterol out of his arteries, and, for a few intense seconds, he forgot everything else, all his petty troubles. It was a scary moment, but pulling it off left him with a thrilling memory that would bring him pleasure for years to come. He'd trained for it, learning about trucks, the air currents underneith them, why they changed course or speed, and how they worked. He'd watched for a while, talked to other ditch-to-ditch dashers and then made the first crossing, facing a slow moving truck on a narrow road. He'd progressed to wider roads and faster trucks and, eventually, groups of trucks. Some of the old chickens said he was crazy, but he knew some of the young ones dug it. But that was not the main appeal of the dash. It was assessing the risk properly, preparing for it, dealing with the unexpected problems and making it to the other side with his feathers intact. The old chickens would never understand, but he never understood how they could live a life so devoid of risk. :D

Gatorgunner 10-31-02 05:35 PM

i like that.

Anyways, im with stirder, if this guy wants to do it to his car, for christ sake let him, its not your car, I think he realizes the risks. (I realize where you guys are coming from though.)

A buddy of mine jumped his 82 jetta a while back (it went so high i was on the side of the road and saw under his car!) Anyways, that car busted a whole buncha shit from that one jump, and he learned his leason from it, and wont ever do it again. So when rollin82 busts some stuff im sure he wont do it again. But untill then, hes a kid out for a fun time, let him have his fun.

Oh yeah and rollin82, where do you go, i wanna see this.
(You should try the road behind Catalina high school)

onepointone 10-31-02 10:20 PM

im still a kid, and my idea of fun in my car is going through "snake road" and doughnuts.. i would never, EVER jump my car.. but what ever floats your boat.

i like the chicken thing, thast cool

FD Racer 10-31-02 10:31 PM

yeah the chicken thing is cool

rollin82 10-31-02 11:37 PM

never would a thought

well guys i never would have thought id get all these kinds of responses......
i repsect the chicken reponse... and yes i was aware of the risk i could have died easily by mis judging or calculating blahblah ect...
this isnt somthing i do day to day this was the first time i jumped my car ever...... sooo ya and i only plan to do it one more time for film..and thats it... no death wish or nuthin like that...
and i would think the risks of speeding threw corners could be just as great as jumping.... high speeds and the chance of sliding out and catching a edge and entering a full tumble ect.. i dont speed threw corners as much as i used to cause i actually had a bad experiance (whole other story)

and as for all of you saying damaging my car..... the pressure was no more than goin fast over a speed bump.. so we can end that now

but once again i respect all your opinions and im sorry if you didnt like what i chose to do... (nor do i suggest any of you got out a try this)

peace be with yall

rollin82 10-31-02 11:53 PM

oh and strider... ive been driving cars since i was 14 ( im 20 now) and b4 that ive had racing go-carts and and jumped atvs and stuff ( haha like that really matters)

and ya i told my dad about it and he actually knew of the place i was at... not to say he was pleased but he seen me drive and knows how i have a feel for cars and there limits... and once again i did this at about 2 in the morning checkd all variables (pedestrians, animals, other vehicles, made sure tires were not low or anything ect..) in the road

alrighty im getting tired of justifyin this, but i just thought id let ya know where im coming from.. not just another kid who watchd fast and the furious, bought a honda and said hey i can drive under semi trucks now!

peace

Lt. Dan 11-01-02 06:50 AM

Personally, I could care less about what happens to him... He could sit in his car, pull the pin on a grenade, and throw it in the passenger footwell for fun.... I'm more worried about the day that I'm driving home from the store, and all of a sudden, a car comes flying off a hill, lands, breaks a piece of it's suspension, and comes careening out of control towards me....

Dan

JEC-31 11-01-02 06:53 AM

peace, rollin82

But remember, there's old road-crossin' chickens and bold road-crossin' chickens - but no old bold ones.

Gatorgunner 11-01-02 12:48 PM

so rollin, where do you go to do this?

rollin82 11-01-02 02:00 PM

i have mad respect for the old n bold chickens... i hope to be one someday

LT. dan the place i did this was in the middle of no where at 2 in the morning!!!!! GRRRRR and i had my friends checkin for cars as well as i, soo calm down... and the hand grenade? thanks for your opinion

gatorgunner i PM'd you with the location

i dont mind you all giving your 2 cents but dont be a dick.... ive been nothin but cool with all of you ( and dont forget get to read all the post b4 you post your own...)

RedFD 11-01-02 02:19 PM

What a stupid ass thing to do!!!! Taking jumps at 90 mph is just gambling with your life. I hope you mess up your car while filming. Stay safe man.

RedFD 11-01-02 02:20 PM

redFD your for wishing bad things on me? .... id rather you not say anything at all then be dick....
sooo in conclusion im sick if you guys looking for someone to bitch at....i chose to do what i wanted to do to my car.....

and for the last time!!!!

no pressure more than a speed bump was putt on the cars suspension!! it was a perfect natural launch and landing!! and i did it late at night where and in the middle of no where" thats why i thought it would be okay!!!

soo why dont you all just go back to your cars and back the fu*k off me if your just gonna dis me and as*holes !!! :cursing:

RedFD 11-03-02 02:46 PM

Did you expect everyone to encourage you? I wasnt wishing bad things on you... only your car. Maybe you should just sell it to someone who will appreciate it a little more. Im done here.

Chemical 11-03-02 05:43 PM

let him enjoy his car how he wants..
yes, it may be risky, but every other form of 'spirited' driving is risky too

whatever floats your boat..

Manntis 11-03-02 06:28 PM

True sprited driving is done with skill and within the limits of the vehicle. Going fast around bends and hoping for the best isn't spirited, it's idiotic.

If he was jumping the car out on the boonies on a private road or property where he's the only potential casualty, heck I'll mail him a Darwin award and wish him well. But if he or any one else is stunting like that on a public road they have no call to get upset when someone tells them they lack forethought.
