It's alive !!! It's alive !!

Well I took everyone's advice on my 81 RX7 that had been sitting up for a while and started to work on it after lunch today. I just fired it off a few minutes ago and it runs great - I am amazed at how easily it started and ran.

So now it's off to start on the other issues.

Well I still have to go through the brakes, etc. before that can happen. Plus while the tires have probably 35K miles of thread left, they have dry-rotted so new tires have to come as well.

It will probably be summer before it hits the streets as I am going to replace the upholstery and all aged interior trim, put new window seals, etc all the way around, paint it, refurbish the wheels, etc. I still ahve lots to do before it will be street ready.

Tires, eh? Everyone has their favorites, and mine are Pirelli P400s, for daily driving and enthusiastic navigation of the tight winding hilly roads around my place. Been using Pirellis since the Cinturatos on my new 62 Alfa Spyder Veloce (Red), because they seem to stick real good on wet roads. Of course, in the intervening 40 years I've experimented with lots of other tires, but always returned to the Pirellis (besides, Pirelli is about the last outfit to make motor rubber for model airplanes).

I'm thinking of trying Bridgestone Turanzas, as an experiment, since Tire Rack rates them high for wet roads.
