This is a boinger, I know, but it's still relevant. To all the people that believe a well maintained stock factory ignition system can't be improved, here's the counterpoint. The system was a race-point system with everything new. That would be the equivalent of a well-maintained stock ignitor system. Improvement over '79 point system should be better...

I wouldn't call an A-body Mopar (you know your musclecars, if I remember right...) that could drop a 12.95 quarter with a 360 cid engine a badly tuned machine. That was with the points. Like me, they dynoed the car after the run and then started the upgrades. That's a 4% gain from leaving a tuned points sytem to electronic ignition. That's a 5 HP gain for a 130 HP engine like I had...sniff...like I had...:(
