Instrument cluster -guages etc

Hiya- 12a 85 fb - I'm having some issues with my cluster and may have to remove- and looking at Haynes manual
- Question - are the instrument connections soldered to the circuit board ? or some sort of push fit ? book talks about "lifting off the circuit board" -just that if they are soldered I 'm thinkin there are dry joints (25 yrs old) and need refreshing.
Also having searched -opinions are take off/not take off steering wheel to work .don't want to do this -took ages to line up right -I'm thinking drop it down from the supporting bracket as Stu -Alaska says -for clearance .
Hope you can help Thanks

It is possible to take out the cluster without removing or dropping the steering wheel. Its a little harder that way but is possible if your careful.

As for the connections there arent any soldered that will prevent you from removing the cluster assembly. There is the two round connectors that posh onto pins on the circuit board and the speedo connection. Remove these and the cluster can be removed completely.

The cluster itself comes completely apart with screws and nut drivers. No soldered components except for inside the separate instruments (tach, clock, etc.).

Only soldering I recall on the cluster PCB holds the connector pins in place.
