Installation of new steering box and column
 

Has anyone installed a new manual steering box and column. If so what time frame and problems can one expect.

I just removed the PS from my 84 and will be installing a manual steering pump from another 84 in about a week. I'm curious about what to expect, although it looks like it will just fit right in there. Of course, it's a helluva lot easier to feel that way when your engine bay looks like mine. :)

Oh yeah, I've not heard of any large obstacles to overcome with this, but I'm hesitant to say they don't exist. Guess you'll have to wait for someone else to respond. Actually, my post was kinda useless. Huh.

Im in the middle of that right now, its not too bad actually. But I have the entire engine, master cylinder, clutch cyclinder etc out. Im painting the firewall :)

I still had some problems getting it out, the radiator stupport and the A/C condenser :) are still in there... I could imagine it being damn near impossible with the motor and the aforementioned stuff in there :(

If you remove the column shaft from the box before taking the box out, you will get some extra margin for movement to remove it...

Search the mazspeed.com site. I think there is an article under the Facts section. Good advice.

I have had mine done when I replaced mine about 8 years ago with a used one and it took around 4 hours for the guy to do it, I have wanted to buy a new one asked the guys at rotary performance and they told me it would be easier to replace the rear end diff on my car if that give you any idea.
By the way how much did you pay for a new stearing box? and were did you get it?

Any of you wanna sell my your old PS box?
