Inspiration
I dunno how many of you visit the lounge, but if you've been there, you may have been interesed in this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/automotive-repair-lounge-280/rust-repair-videos-freaking-incredible-502253/ The videos are hosted at: http://www.voodoo-people.com/~daz/mull/wmv/ I also have a mirror here: http://www.3geeks.org/pele/CarStuff/rusty/ (Video uploads in progress at the time of this thread posting.) The videos are of a man from Sweeden who bought a Datsun 240Z with "No rust at all" on it... Everybody knows that that's an oxymoron... Observe the work involved and be inspired or gather tips. These videos define love. |

The 240 Zs were my first true love. In fact, the only reason I ended up with a Mazda is because when I was shopping for a replacement for my '73 (died of rust underneath, even though the body was immaculate) the only car I could find was my new baby. I don't regret my choice, but I'll always drool a little when I see a nice 240... I'll have to check out those videos when I get home (can't access from work).

I understand what you're saying kentetsu, because the Datsuns were some nice cars, but I was fortunate. I never developed any kind of feeling for the 240/260/280z, and absolutely fell in love with the RX-7 when I first started reading about it in Road & Track, and Car & Driver in early 1978. I put my name on the waiting list at the local Mazda dealer...I was 6th on the list. I ended up buying the 2nd one they sold, because it was an S model..real basic and nobody wanted it. But I loved it, so I bought it, and I've never, ever regretted it.
