Ignition Coils to replace factory

Are the stock 1st gen RX7 coils a typical HEI style non ballast 12v coil? Or are they rotary specific?

Before swapping them out for some MSD's I wanted to make sure they weren't special due to the more rapid discharge the 7 warrents.

I did use the search function but I found conflicting information. It looks like a typcial MSD Blaster 2 Canister coil would work sweet.

Thanks
-Paul

just recently got my MSD setup (6AL and two blaster 2s) on my leading ignition, DLIDFIS as they call it around here. and man it really helped in a lot of ways. smoother more consistent power band, better idle, eaiser starting in the cold, and about two more miles per gallon avg....the engine just sounds way healthier/stronger. oh, and i should mention that i upgraded to this from a stock SA (original '79) breaker point ignition setup, so i'm sure this is one reason i noticed such a dramatic improvement.

That's wrong. You either have an MSD ignition or DLIDFIS. You can't have both at the same time.

ah...ok, i was thinking this was what everyone was calling this setup. just because it has the individual coils for each leading spark plug it is not a DLIDFIS, which i still do know what that stands for, maybe i need to do a search.:)
