i was burning some rubber in my 82 rx with a 13B swap when my car went wide open and then settled to 5 grand. I didn't have a flashlight and it was dark as hell. Some how i managed to get home.

I checked the return spring on my Weber tipo carbs, it's ok. The gas pedal checked out. I was about to cry when i discovered my OMP line got stick in front of throttle linkage and that's why it wouldn't idle.

That sucks. My friend just brought home his '85 SE a couple weeks ago, it doesn't idle right at all, but one day it started idling at 4k. We opened up his intake, and there was a razor blade stuck in his throttle plate, keeping it open. WTF? How the hell does a razor blade get into the intake?

A mechanic was probably scraping something inside the airbox, the intake tract to the throttle body, or it got stuck to the lower side of the air filter when he put it on the bench during replacement/installation.

I'm pretty sure even the K&N's will stop a razor blade!

Has to have been placed there for that to happen, no other way into the system.

Good luck on getting the SE to idle well - it's a challenge all it's own.

i'm so glad i'm fixed my idle problems, i hope you have luck fixing yours

Thanks, man. It's certainly an educational experience. I've learned a whole lot more about what does what on my SE since I've had to take it all apart, clean it, and tune it up to eliminate it as a cause for the strange idle conditions.

Seems to be getting better, tho, since ATF trick...

my car used to idle at like 400 rpms with slight hunting (50-100).

sounded cool as hell.

mine used to do that too with the stock nikki and before i tuned the idle mixture screws for the mikuni. Still slightly hunts but just barely. Sounds awesome tho.

I had a few mindless people come up to me and ask "what kinda cam you got in there..." I just shook my head and said it's rotary and it's ported nuff said...
