Idler arm
I just ordered a Moog Idler arm to replace my original. My question is do I need to grease it and if so how do I go about it?
if you ordered from mazdatrix, they can tell you what you need to know
I have the same part, I got it through Mazdatrix. When I got it the box was greasy, and my buddy and I looked it over pretty good. We decided that it didn't need any grease and we just put it on. I have gone maybe 1,000 miles on it and I haven't had any problems. If you ask Mazdatrix or whoever, please post on here, I want to know if I am screwing my setup.

Don't buy this part through Mazdatrix, it is about 20 bucks cheaper through www.Rockauto.com If it has zerk fittings for a grease gun then grease it, if not then don't worry about it. I don't recall if mine had the fittings or not.

Why are you guys replacing the whole thing when you can buy just the bushings?
The bushings are cheap/easy to replace, but the Moog unit is much beefier and uses ball joints rather than bushings. I believe it is Racing Beat that claims they use this on all of their race cars. I have had both units side by side, and there is a very big difference between the two units. Worth the extra expense? Maybe, especially if you race at all.
I have it on my race car. I got sick of having to replace the busings on the stock one after every season. Mine has a fitting, so I shot a little grease in it.
How big is this unit compared to stock? The wastegate housing cover on my S5 turbo only clears the stock unit by about 1/8". If the upper pivot that mounts to the frame rail is the same size or smaller than stock, I'll add it to my list of upgrades.
I don't know if it would fit. The Moog unit is pretty beefy. Go to rockauto and look at some of the offerings, then compare those to the Moog. Click on "details" for photos...
