Idle Mixture

What should the idle mixture screw be adjusted at?

I believe it is around 3 1/2 turn out. I need to readjust mine.

Wouldn't it depend on the carb?

damon 10-02-02 10:46 AM

That's alright, I just wanted to make sure he didn't go adjust something too much or too little. ;)

generally speaking, you screw it in (lean) until it starts to run rough, then screw it out (rich) until it starts to run rough, then go back halfway. This generally gives
smoothest idle. The shop manual suggests you go a little lean from there, that tends to lower emissions slightly.

I just got done tuning it up before I read this. I ended up tuning it to run a little lean and it runs GREAT! No more hesitation!! Woohoo!
