i need aluminum stock
I went to the place near-by thats called sullivan steal. There suppose to sell kinds of metals and stuff. I asked specifically for what I needed.. a small peice of alumiunm thats 5x5x3/4" they showed me what they had. They only had rods of flat stock. 2.5x1/2"x 12' yup ft. wtf. I asked them if they would kindly sell me a small peice. They said they can not because thats all they had. :wallbash: I really think my mod to the 12A omp will work for everyone. I just don't have a source for aluminum. I was going to run down to the local yard however, its going to rain alot in tomorrow and the next days that the yard is just going to be full of mud. I been searching since thursday and can not find anything. They only thing that home depot has is to thin for my intension.
If anyone has a peice of aluminum and would part with it. I need a peice thats atleast 1/2" thick and 3" squared. 1" might be to thick. |
I bet I have some like that, finding it will be the trick.

Yep , it would. My local yard has bar stock up to something like 4X6", can't say they have any 3/4" plate though.

what rain? Oh shit. how could I forget that Im from sunny Southern CA where its currently in the mid-80's and smoggy. :naughty: |
heres a little hint....funny though....EBAY!
Go on there and search for stock metal/aluminum. Then find the company and send them a message asking them to give you a price on a foot long piece or whatever you need. they will cut it for you and send it to your house with a small charge. Done it before when i made a custom intake |

Done it before when i made a custom intake yup, after I made the thread I looked and bam.. there it was. For you guys with ready access to all kinds of machines this is what I want to do... notice the black circle.. block that off. see where the red lines are pointing.. make an aluminum plate that has the same shape as the cover thats being held with 2 screws. now look at the drawing I just made (I am by no means are artisist, obviously) The peice is going to be shaped like the cover that was removed from the 12A omp. You will need to increase the length of the screw to the correct length. The center area(gray) of the "adaptor" will have to be milled out so that there still enough "meat" to hold a brake bleeder or some sort of nipple of your choice. Then the rest would be as described by cmsprofessor in this thread The 12A engines oil galley to the omp is directly connected to the bushing. This means that no milling of requierd to the front cover as with the 13B engines. If this works everyone would benefit and no one will have to pay $50 dollars to use the cleaner burning 2cycle oil. hey, I can wait till cmsprofessor hits a couple thousand miles on his engine and lets us know if its working free if bugs. p.s. rain just makes it that much for easyer to do donuts and mile long skid marks with less power. :rlaugh: |
Kinda far from you. My old company gets it's aluminium from here:
C-S METALS SERVICE INC 7325 WASHINGTON BLVD ELKRIDGE, MD 21075 (410) 796-5661 They should be able to ship you some. Many alloys available, many sizes. They use 6061-T6 mostly. Tough shit it is. Bars, tubes, sheets, whatever. And they'll cut it up for you. (Rough cuts, so you might wanna have it oversize and cut it down yourself later. |
