i just made a shifter and ebrake boot
 

they look pretty sweet....i dont know how to attach the shifter boot to the cover plate since all my tabs are broken off.....

i left alot of materail at the bottom of the boot so when you put the plate on you cant even tell its just tucked in really good......

Crazy glue it underneath where you can't see it. Works fine.

the ebrale turned out crappy but good enough while the shifter looks good

I used a MOMO shift boot along with a new "F16" shift knob to match my car, and was studying (like you) the best way to attach the boot permanently to the console plate so that it wouldn't have gaps and come loose.

I ended up taking 1/4" long staples like you have in your average, every-day industrial staple gun, and punching these through the leather from the inside to the outside. Measure and mark the leather very closely to ensure that it won't impede the throw of the shift lever and then give yourself some extra room. After you get the staples punched through the leather, line up the seam in the boot with wherever you want it, and grab a 1/16" drill bit and drill holes along the very edge of the console plate to match the staple width.

When you get the first 2 holes drilled for the first staple, push the staple shafts through the hole (pointing down through the console plate), and then bend the staple shafts outward to hold the leather snugly up against the console plate. Start drilling as you go around and take your time. The more effort you put into doing a good job, the better the end result.

I'll take some pictures of my boot tonight and post them up in reply. This took me less than an hour to do, and it looks very professional. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a matching E-brake boot, now. HTH,

and here I thought it was going to be a plastic bag taped around the shifter...lol...was I ever wrong...need pics of what you did to well see what you did!

SORRY for the wait here ya go.,....

the zip tie on the ebrake will be taken off!!!! im going to use velcro around the bottom of the shifter plate to hold the shift boot close to it and then on the back side of the ebrake lever..........let me know if ya like them

looks pretty good. i did something similar with a $5 leather jacket i bought at value village :)

the shifter boot looks really good..but im not a fan of the e-brake boot....i think you need to make the material way more loose...like on newer cars...just doesnt look right how it is right now...but not a bad job overall for what...$10?
