I cant get the freakin E-brake handle off. Any suggestions.

I have been working on getting this freaking thing off for a week. You just pull it off right. I bought a bunch of ichibahn stuff and this is holding me back on my interior mods.

Lets say I cant get it off. Could I crush it. Like with a pliers. This thing is really on there. I am a big guy(6'1'' 230lbs -NOT FAT-) I pulled on it for till my hand started cramping. I want to get the cloth boot and ichibahn handle on there.

riffraff 04-07-02 09:44 PM

not sure how to get it off.. but through up a pic of the ichibahn handle when you get a chance.. i am curious as to what it looks like

82streetracer 04-08-02 10:14 AM

the entire ichibahn site is in pdf format. i cant link a picture.
IF you want to go see what they look like I have the GEAR series brake and shift handle. The sshift handle isnt on there. I dont know why.

what about some sort of slide hammer. I dont know how I would hook it up but its a idea.

82streetracer 04-08-02 08:34 PM

the amount of feedback on this thread is insane.

riffraff 04-08-02 08:38 PM

i donot think that many people try to remove their e-brake handles.. sorry , i never have..

82streetracer 04-08-02 09:35 PM

all these people who answer dont seem to know how to get it off. I need to hear from someone who knows how to get it out.

OtakuRX 04-09-02 05:33 AM

Why not razor blade it, that is if you don't plan on using it anymore.

82streetracer 04-10-02 10:00 AM

i got it off. Man was it difficult. I was twisting it hard and all of a sudden i heard this light "crack" not of breaking plastic but of the handle seperating from the arm. it slid right off after that.

jeremy 04-10-02 10:12 AM

um........you might want to pull and twist really hard and then.......um............you'll hear a crack and um........it'll come off.

82streetracer 04-10-02 10:18 AM

what?

Wattz 04-11-02 11:20 PM

Mine is broken anyway, it's hard to keep it ON.

You gotta crack the bottom halves apart and then the rest will start coming off.

nimrodTT 04-11-02 11:48 PM

For future reference:
If you take the bottom plastic cover off, the handle should slide right off cause there's nothing else holding it in place.

jerij 04-12-02 01:36 AM

Fun, wasn't it? I was twisted around in my front pulling like crazy. The thing finally popped off and my elbow went flying through my windshield. It was already cracked and I was going to replace it, just not so soon.
