HTR 200 Tire Pressure

I just got my sumitomo HTR 200s and love them so far. I was just wondering what the rest of you run your tire pressure at. Thanks in advance.

I run mine at 48-50 psi, to help handle the soft sidewall.

Dang, thats a lot of air. I have had mine for almost a year. I run the yoko avs sports on my other car, and i like them a little better. But the HTR's seem to hold up at least 4 times longer than the soft yokos. My car is only driven on the street, however i still ram it out on gravel and on pavement also, i have only ever run 30-35. Did you chalk them and check to see how much they were rolling? cus 50 i think is a lot.

No, I haven't. But judging from the way the last set worned out (more on the center), figured 50 psi was a little too much, so I backed down 2-3 psi on this new set, which I've had for a few months.

I think you should consider dropping them more. Wuts the max rated pressure on those? Like 44psi?

cdrad51 08-30-04 08:50 PM

51 :)

Do the chalk thing across the tread and drive it spiritedly. Then see what your tires need.

Sorry for the ignorance, but could one of you explain this chalk method more clearly, I have never heard of it. What psi do you run your tires at Carl? Thanks.

I started at 32, but that seems low. Havent had time to get serious about it.

You make 3 or 4 marks on the tires, evenly spaced. Mark from shoulder, across the tread to the other shoulder. Then drive the car spiritedly. Then look at the chalk. If its worn all the way past the edges of the sidewall, then your rolling over and need more pressure. If its not worn on the edges of the tread then your pressures are too high and are running only on the center of the tread.
