how should I set up a intercooler with a stock front end.

using the stock front end, how would you set up a FMIC

should I just find the biggest one I can fit in there or what, what about intercooler piping size, what should I run?

direct freak, mike p-28 im looking in your direction.

eddierotary 12-27-02 03:36 PM

check his page, and hes posted it up a few times
i'll post pics of when i get mine all mounted up :D

82streetracer 12-27-02 04:35 PM

should I mount it in the front opening if I can.

eddierotary 12-27-02 05:02 PM

i dont know about that, it wouldnt be a good idea. will block alot of air to the radiator. the way i did it doest block the radiator too much. i wich i have a digi now so i can show you the front of my car

82streetracer 12-27-02 05:19 PM

If I found one to cover half, should it be on the top or the bottom, I would think the bottom for more effinciency and looks.

Eville140 12-27-02 05:23 PM

Here is a Grand National IC with the necks cut off mounted up front. Was pretty easy to hook up.

eddierotary, I see you are running the small NPR in front of the Radiator and still using the stock mounting and radiator positioning. Will a big NPR fit that way also?

yes, i have to cut a piece of them to fit my intercooler. i dont think the large one fits with the stock radiator mounting. you can ask directfreak.

82streetracer 12-27-02 05:49 PM

I like the way that npr one is hooked up, but looks like a tight fit.

looks like the drivers side radiator panel is still there, is the passenger one still there. If it fits that well and I just have to cut a hole on each side of the red shroud im going to go with a npr.

82streetracer 12-27-02 05:52 PM

is this the same npr intercooler,

as this one

Nope, the one is the ebay has almost twice as many rows and the in/out are slightly larger.
I have one of the larger NPR (like the ebay add) that was in my musatng laying in the garage floor. Just yell if you need some demensions.

i have both panels. my -se radiators panel came with the holes for the stock air box pipe, i try to fit the intercooler pipes thru the holes without cutting them but didnt work. and it looks a tight fit but is not. i can fit the battery and the cooland overflow bottle without no trouble. look like it came from the factory over there. :D
i can take meturment tomorow so you know how much i cut.

82streetracer 12-27-02 06:43 PM

so I need the smaller size.,

what are the demensions on that smaller one.

thats the one I want.

82streetracer 12-27-02 08:45 PM

eddierotary 12-27-02 09:03 PM

i payd for mine $179. plus shipping i see the around that price all the time.

MIKE-P-28 12-27-02 09:05 PM

I dunno if I ever took a pictur of mine installed, i just started cutting and making brackets...

You have to rely on your fabrication skills :)

MIKE-P-28 12-27-02 09:08 PM

I can get you a large NPR IC for $185 + shipping

Thats if I can still get them.. :( Havent checked in a while?

Directfreak 12-27-02 09:31 PM

Largest NPR Intercooler. Mounted upside down, with no cutting.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1217857

Home made bracket to hold it all in place.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1217895

I will have to trim a little of the reinforcment fom the header panel when I put it back on. Unless 1stRX7heaven finishes his vented header panels first. :)

gamble302 12-27-02 09:52 PM

Actually, Never. I've taken it on and off only a couple of times. It's just regular "L" brackets from Home Depot. It was better than having to weld anything.
