How to recharge the A/C
Just a quick question, where do I connect the hose to recharge my a/c? Is it on the connector closer to the engine or the one closer to the fender? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you,

Unless it's already been converter over to R134A you can't recharge it. You would need to have the system evac'd and converted for 134A

Closer to the fender.

If you are putting R134A into a R12 system, you do need to consider that the old mineral oil lubricant used with R12 won't be carried by the R134 - which is why they now use PAG and Ester oils. A flushing would be required and I would suggest new compliant o-rings at a minimum.

Or retrofit it for 1/3 the price. Itdoes not get as cold but you might as well just switch it to 134a. And usually the dessicant is not compatible either so you need to replace the receiver dryer

Maybe legal to purchase at that point but not to service the A/C unless you have the proper equipment to recover and dispense the R12.:)

Actually for about $20, you can become certified and then it is perfectly legal to purchase.... Online too...

Yes, all above true, which is why I went R134 :)
However, if you currently have R12 and it is not leaky, it may be cheaper and better in the long run to top off with R12. The fines are quite large for allowing R12 to the atmosphere... |
Also not to mention, if you can even find R12 anymore, it is expensive. Last I checked(couple years ago) it was $80 per pound

Where does refrigerant go?
Which line does the refrigerant go into. I've checked the forum but cant find the answer. I see 2 places where it could go on top of the compressor. Dont know which line is which.

Am i the only one who finds this sketchy? If you dont know where the lines go and what is what, (now im just speculating) you probably shouldnt be fucking around with some seriously toxic materials
|
I agree with that completely...
Think of all the tree hugging hippies you could kill! But seriously, don't be fucking with a (presumably, but probably not really) high pressure system filled with toxic refigerant that could freeze your fucking fingers off if you're stupid! |
