How much does 81-85 5spd weigh?
 

Need to ship trans, need to know if someone has shipped and what was the weight. No guesses please, i can do that, the trans is still in the vehicle otherwise

I had a guy in CA wanting one, So I got it out of the parts car and mesured and felt it.

IIRC it was 3ft by 18 inches by 18 inches, or so, Did not get to weight it but #50 seamed right. to be safe estimate it at #60 and you should be more then fine.

Yeah, they aren't very heavy really. I can pick mine up and carry it around all day long. I'd say they're probably between 50-60 lbs, without any gear oil in 'em. :bigthumb:

Actually they're closer to 30-35 lbs.

Aviator, if the transmission feels like30 to 35lbs to you, then your as strong as
Arnold, our govenor,LOL. As far as the packaging, shaggy's dad got 2 14x14 boxes
from the local office suppply and put them together. I spoke to dhl and ups today
about just using plastic shrink wrap that you hold merchandise together on pallets
with and they both said it was ok to do. rx7doctor

I was carrying a transmission today... it's considerably more than 30 lbs. I would say 60 is about right, mine feels like it's about 70 lbs with the gear oil still in it.

Shaggy's dad weighed it, it was 83lbs with 2 cardboard boxes wrapped around
it. After i pull it tommorow i will give everyone the official weight. rx7doctor

I had a 300zx turbo tranny shipped before. It somehow came in under UPS' weight limitation of 80lbs. (but it was close) I would think the fb tranny is about 65lbs w/o oil.
