How mauch does an engine replacement cost for an 85 GSL-SE?

I am looking at an 85 GSL-SE with 146,000 miles. If well maintained, I heard the engines are good for 200K or so. I need to know how much I'm in for in the not-so-distant future.

Thanks!

your engine could run to 300,000 or more... depending on how you treat it, maintain it, and drive it...

but I believe a rebuilt 13B is running around $1300 without new rotors, housings, etc...

add on rotors, housings, etc, and you're in for mega $$$

well a reman motor is like $1600-2500 plus the labor to put it in (10-12hours book time) plus about $500 for a clutch, belts, hoses, radiator etc. so $2k motor+10 hours@ $50/per hour + $500 = $3000, it can be done for less and it can be done for more

if you put in a new motor i would go the extra mile and replace ALL hoses, belts, linkage, new clutch and pressure plate, new raditor and oil cooler. Your probadly going to spend about $1600-1900 on a motor alone so why not spend a couple hundred extra and protect your investment.

I'm getting a new 13b for my 1st gen sometime w/i the next couple of months, and am going to be in debt so if i going to get loan for enough money to do it right, the first time
