It was also a smaller turbo.

I would be using a S4 manifold
T4 Hybrid Turbo from RS
My nikki re-jetted by RS
2.25 inch piping back to some type of 3" cat back

My stock well maintained 13b GSLSE with factory 3mm seals lasted 24 hours when I put my camden on it.

Hey Ive got 2 cents for you here. All first gen motors come stock with a 3mm seal. It should be plenty strong for 5psi. Also dude is right a japanese 12a turbo makes 165hp 160ft lb torque at 6psi. I think it may have also been feuli. Meaning you should get about 40 horse(these are really light cars) and more impotantly 40 to 60 torque. You should definitely consider getting it street ported a little too.

Thanks for the help guys. So considering 5PSI adds ~40 hp/tq. Then a reasonable guess for 10PSI would be ~80hp/tq?

With the mods i have done i believe i am putting down about 95-100 hp to the wheels. Anyone care to guess what i am making now?

2GCDFIS
De-emmisioned
Rebuilt carb
ACV blocked off
EGR delete
Modified intake (360 degree flow)
Mechanical Secondaries

Do you have a stock exhaust? If it is stock then all of those mods will be very minimal in gains. I have a full Racing Beat exhaust(minus presilencer) with Direct Fire and I would estimate maybe 100hp to the wheels. Without opening up the exhaust, anything else is kinda pointless. It's hard to say what kind of gains you could see just due to what else you would need with it. You still need a boost prepped carb, and it'll depend on what size carb you get with the range of tunability it has. For the most part, everything comes down to a good tune

Experiment.Seven 05-25-08 04:30 PM

Yes very true.

I have the stock 81 exhaust. I believe it's 2 x 1.5 inch pipes back to a single 2 inch to the stock muffler. Cleared out Catalytic convertor though.

So i assume i'm only putting down around 85-95 then. =/

Wow...these cars don't need much power to be quick. =]
I beat integras and civics all day long with only that minimal power. =P

Quick side question:

Running an open header decreases low end torque and increases top end or visa versa? =]

TheRX7Project 05-25-08 05:56 PM

you are correct, an open header will increase high end power and reduce low end torque. But keep in mine an open header may be "too open" and you won't scavenge correctly, meaning loss of power all around.

Experiment.Seven 05-25-08 06:32 PM

Hmmm...scavenging..

Searching time.

FirebirdSlayer666 05-26-08 02:46 PM

Let's put it this way. If you run open header, you will have no low end torque or power and you will never know what the top end power feels like because your head would explode before you got to 7k LOL. Trust me, I DD my FB on open header for 3 weeks, not a good idea LOL. What you need is a long primary exhaust system. Basically the RB Road Race exhaust system. I'm going to run this on my FB when it's on the road, minus the presilencers. You're right, it doesn't take much power to make these light cars quick. With my mods I ran a 16.09 at the strip with crappy tires and a carb that had to be running richer than Donald Trump

I would rebuild it and add a streetport. Do it right the first time. That's a bit of a risk with that many miles.

Experiment.Seven 05-27-08 01:24 AM

Well the time to decide should be soon, so a build thread will pop up from me soon.

Cheers.

so will the s4 manifold fit on the 12a? (just starting to make research about turbos)
