How do I put a Holley carb on an '84 GSL-SE
 

I was considering putting an inexpensive carburetor setup on my '84 GSL-SE. What do I need and how much money should I save and is it worth it? My dad is Master ASE certified and I have every tool available. Thanks

Isn't the GSL-SE a 13B??? The 13B is fuel injected. Putting a carb on it would just make it worse and would be really complicated wouldn't it? If you have a 12A engine then it must not be a GSL-SE. I don't think anybody is going to put a 12A in instead of a 13B. I wouldn't. 13B is more powerful and has greater potential.

actually, one can obtain quite a bit of power using a carb on the SE. it actually makes the whole setup simpler. also, i bought my Se with a 12A in it. it now has the 13B and it will never see a 12A again!

Yeah FI system on an se is very limited. The quickest and easiest way to get more power is to carb it. Mazdatrix sells a manifold for just that.

Money and a little work is all it takes. Just do research of the carb you know how to tune best. If you buy the RB set up it is expensive. Dont forget a better fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.

If you dont know anything about carbs, you would be best off with buying the RB set up. If your dad knows how to tune Holley's then the cheapest way would be to buy an intake for the holley, then have your dad tune the Holley for the Rotary. I can give you some suggestions to what I have done to mine, but Iam NO Holley expert and dont have my non-rotary Holley tuned the way I want it! Maybe we could help each other?

Oh yes, my dad used to tune hundreds of Holleys back in the day. He is awesome at it. I am interested in getting an intake manifold for a Holley carb. It does seem to be a worthwhile project for down the road. It looks nicer and gives a performance boost. Thanks
