hot air on diff
i finally found the reason my exhaust sits so low in the middle,
the connection above my rear axel wasnt connected.. hmmm... so ive been blowing really hot exhaust gas onto my diff.. just wondering if this would do any damage? im planing on fixing it up next weekend when i can get some car stands and change the diff lube while im at at (if theres any left) and also what do i use to lube up the diff? (remember im all the way down in Aus) -Cheers |
Hot air on the diff? Not likely any damage. Not having fluid in the diff? Not the best thing. Just get some good oil to put in there (I think its 75w90 gear oil? Wait for someone to confirm this...), I prefer synthtic (RedLine), and I had a GSL with an LSD so I had the LSD additive in it also. Worked nicely.

I have replace many right side rear axle bearing because of the heat off the exhaust pipe.
Use factory axle bearing when it comes time to change them out. John |
Won't worry it. Best to get it fixed anyway.

coolio.. thanks guys
only problemis now im gonna lose the nice sound... bugger |
so i fixed her up today,
let out the diff oil and it was a beautiful black colour.. once it cooled down it turned into big black glumps... yummy one question.. how much oil does the diff take? because i only drained 1 litre out.. so i only put 1 litre in... but im not completly sure. and it actually sounds a whole lot better no than it did before.. YAY!! |
Park the car so that the fill plug is pointing uphill. Fill it till the oil starts pouring out. Close it up.
