Hood rod Clip

Does anyone know the part number for the hood rod clip, I could not locate it in the pats list that I have, went to the Mazda dealer & they ordered the wrong part, I got the part for the lower end of the rod, the bushing where it enters the body.

So Hood rod Clip Part # ??

thanks

The clip should be: 8871-52-518

SWEET! I have needed this for a long time. Addict is the man! I called my local dealership and they cost ~8 bucks each. Kinda pricey for what it is, but I would rather pay 8 bucks than have the hood rod flop around like it does.

Wow! $8?!? I think it cost me ~$3 when I bought mine. This was like a year or two ago. It is sure nice having a nice white clip instead of the discolored broken off one. I got the part number from the microfiche on www.iluvmyrx7.com .

A lot of the dealer stuff isn't that bad on price (some is, though for sure). For instance, you can get the door pull cups for about $8 each, replacement turn signal/ marker light lenses go for $11-$18, and so on. It is nice to have new factory parts. I know so many people spend time searching for this stuff in junkyards only to find broken/brittle/discolored parts. Only because they assume the dealer is $$. When I need stuff, I look up the part numbers and call the dealer. For the stuff that is too expensive, I either wait or go through ebay, here, or the JY.

that is the part they ordered, & is the wrong part for what I was wanting, that part number is for the bushing that goes at the base of the rod where the rod enters the body, & additionally it clips to the base of the rod. It was $4.25.

I want the part number for the clip that secures the rod to the body when the rod is in the "storage" position.

Try there, That's where I got mine.

Then it has to be:

9971-50-702

The picture is real blurry on the microfiche and it's hard to make out small parts and numbers.

BAH! Oh well, I will call them again and just order one of each to make sure.

gsl-se addict 12-14-05 03:04 PM

Okay. I guess it is the 9971 part numer. You can tell by the Madatrix number. Mazdatrix uses the Mazda numbers, but the switch them around. Funny, because the description in the fiche says the 8871 number as "Holder, Hood Stay"

Dom 12-14-05 03:09 PM

I've called Mazda and told them about the mistake. The picture is no good, and the description is vague at best. The next edition micro-fiche will be corrected.
