Holley or Weber carb
On my 12a right now I have a Holley carb. I've heard that they don't really pair well with 7s and I've been having a little bit of trouble with mine. Would it be worth it to switch to a Weber 45 dcoe?

The DCOE and wrap around intake or sidemount intake? With the wrap around, the low end torque is better at the expense of higher rpm power. With the sidemount the heat from the exhaust manifold or headers is an issue. Either way the DCOE will work fine but there will be some drivability issues that should be easy to either tune out or drive around.
The best setup is the stock nikki modded to breathe easier, sometimes referred to as a Fat or Hogged out nikki. Do some searches and read up on it. |

Holley works just fine....its all about how you tune... jets size and air idle mixture... Weber are good as well just depends on how much you wanna spend... |
I've only ever run a Nikki and now a side draft Mikuni. I'll be going to an IDA downdraft next season.
Have you tried tuning the Holley yet? Checked the Racing Beat specifications to make sure your jetting and settings are good for your current motor setup? |
You can tune a Holley all day and mask issues until its drivable, but it will never be right. Period. Those who disagree are the same type to dispute physics, which are not open to interpretation.

Holleys are bad on rotaries, period. Stick with nikkis, webers or dellortos.

Everyone has a preference into what they like or don't like.... What can work one, won't work another. In MY CASE my Holley ( Actually BG Demon 850) work for my setup. As you learn and experiment with different setup you'll find what work for you... |
