holley red fuel pump install questions

first i would like to say is my wife spilled tea on keyboard so some buttons dont work. I searched the archives and found a good thread on a Carter fuel pump and Holley FBR install but it was on a 83 or 84. Question is,do i need a inline fuse and a relay? If so how to i go about wiring it? Oh my car is a 79.I am running a Holley 465 carb with a Racing Beat intake with headers and 2 1/2" exhaust.

using the existing stock pump wiring will work just fine.

i read a thread yesterday from here that said if u wire the pump with a dedicated power supply wire and used the factory wire to trigger a relay it will supply more power to the pump. with the stock wiring the pump is louder and cycles when u use blinkers and when u press the brake lighting the brake lights and so on. they say after the dedicated 10g wire is ran to it, its alot quieter. doesnt cycle anymore or drop voltage. and supplys more fuel

that's interesting, but mine's wired with the factory wiring and i don't have such problem. but then again i'm not running a holley red pump so maybe they draw more amps than what i'm using, idk.
