Hogged Nikki w/ emissions?

How well would this work? Does anybody have experience doing Nikkis mods/hogging the venturis/mech secondaries while still running the stock vacuum rack and associated components?

I'm just curious because I kind of want to stick close-ish to stock and keep some of the comfort features while still gaining in performance. Do the items on the vacuum rack actually accomplish anything that's worth keeping?

no reason it couldn't. the vacuum rack runs the vacuum advances and the air control valve, both of which you want, and it does the AC idle up, which is nice.

Isn't there more than that? There's like 5 or 6 solenoids.

Also, I would be wanting to keep the stock choke arrangement. Does the flapper really constrict the flow of the carb or is that just in theory?

1 or two for the vacuum advance
2 for the ACV
1 for the AC idle up
and then 1 for the shutter valve

its not very complicated

back in the day i used to remove the choke flapper but keep everything else, you get the fast idle and any flow gain, which would be small

Don't need a choke really but the fast idle is useful when cold. I treat like a choke.

You're probably right. I hesitate to get ride of the choke right away in case I park the car at work during the colder (but still driveable) months. Guess we will see in October!

Basically I'm trying to keep the car very reliable and with all the smoothness of the stock carb setup but gain some flow/power. Don't have an exhaust yet but am planning on it.
