Hmmm...I need some "Opinions", "Advice", and "Wisdom" from the Rotary Gods. =]

I need some advice guys on some parts and ideas for my car.

I can't decide on my own as of yet and i need some opinions and options.

First off: Performance

What is a good quality header with the best flow possible? OR how would i go about fabricating my own, and how much in parts?

To finish off the headers i was thinking of getting a straight pipe(Test pipe) instead of a presilencer...i know it wioll be loud but i am fine with that.

BTW i don;t have to pass emmisions. =]

And also what is a good muffler for our cars? I know we have some extreme heat coming out of there and i want something that will hold up longer than a couple back fires. =P

I want good acceleration at the sacrifice of Top speed...what modifications should i do to achieve this? I was thinking a KIA Diff for sure, Light wieght flywheel, Keep the small wheels but get a larger width, and a Lake City(if possible to find) manidfold or a down draft Weber manifold with a Weber 48IDA?

Anything in the ignition department i should be midifying?
Hmmm...anyone have a good electric fan? =]

Second: Safety

I have a pair of APC racing seats right now. I know i know...not so great. And i can't seem to make the passenger side fit correctly because the transmission is set farther right on the car. BUT i always see you guys have flush seats on here and it boggles my mind at how you did it. Is there some kind of special mount or what? And also who on here can teach me how to fabricate a rool cage? i would like a main hoop, Two rear, A harness Bar and a cross brace. OR who can quote me a price to do that type of cage?

Third: Aestethics

Gauges-What's a good brand of gauge? Quality wise.
Racing pedals- What are sme good pedals out there that aren't walmart specials?

After-thoughts: IDEAS

Anyone ever seen a diffuser for our cars? That would be a big seller i think.
How about a GT Wing?
Front splitter? Canards for any bumpers?
How much wieght savings would i get with switching from back glass to a Lexan piece?

To some that stuff may seem ricey but overall it DOES increase downforce, thus increasing performance to an extent.

Header: Mindtrain
Muffler(s): RB for single, Borla for multiple.
Acceleration: Supercharger, Turbocharger, 3 Rotor, 4 Rotor
As far as the body pieces go, it really boils down to what your intentions for the car are

Exhaust = Racing Beat.
Ignition = 2nd Gen 2GCDFIS ignition upgrade.
Gauges = Autometer.
Rear glass = There's a rotary shop in Florida that sells racing pieces. I can't remember the name offhand. I think it's J&P Racing.
Safety = Rollcage.

I always beleive in starting with the end in mind first. Exactyl how fast do you want to go? How will u ultimately be using your car? How will your performance mods affect your pocket book? How much are you willing to spend? On the custom exhaust, if you ahve to ask...

There are hundreds of performance upgrades available. some are costly relative to their payoff in performance. The exhaust is the cheapest relative to performance gains. RB sells the entire kit for $900. Again, what is your end, what is your budget, then figure out if you can meet the two.

If Borla can handle this 24/7:

Then I suggest it.

Header? RB single outlet, for NA Stock port configurations.

If you want good accel, then pick up a front kia 4x4 diff if you can find it. Other than that, grab a GSL rear end or the RacingBeat rear gears.

Electric fan? I got one from a buddy, whom got it from a junk yard at 12$. Early 90's ford taurus, and the speed is on low (it is a 2 speed fan, low and high. Low flows way more air than the stock clutch fan) it should work wonders for you. Also, when you install it, enjoy 2nd gear :)

Safety: You can get a roll cage that you can weld on your own for under $200. I believe harddog or something like that has them.

Personally, for gauges I run Autometer Sport Comp gauges with the red bulb covers. It looks enough like stock! As for Seats, IIRC you will have to custom mount the frame rails to the seats you get. TII seats work great and have tons of lateral support.

Pedals? Anything goes. Just don't get the light up kinds. I hate those. Too ricey, but thats just me and its your car.

Are you talking about a front diffuser? Black dragon auto and Mariah sells front bumpers for the RX7. As far as underbody diffusers, you are on your own there. I don't think anyone makes those for the first gens.

GT wing, get the whale tail, or the high rise 3 piece (thats what I call it... It is like the ordinary 3 piece wing but taller in the back increasing downforce). If you get the parking bench ricer wing I will personally remove the car from your possession :tonque:

Weight savings from the rear window I do not know of, But I hear that replacing ALL windows with thin lexan will save you about 70-100 lbs.

I have had a few beers tonight, so please excuse any typos and whatnot. Happy new year!

the search function is useful too. there is a thread called modifying your first gen.

exhaust, search exhaust.

there are a couple threads on roll cages, dunno bout fabricating them though.

if you wanna know about the weber, search about it

ive read tons of threads on almost everything you asked about. its been covered.

First thing to decide is final goals for the car and the total budget you're willing to spend. Second thing is to become a sponge and start reading eveything you can on mods. Not just here at the Club, but also over at NoPistons.com and AusRotary.com.

Each and everyone of us can give advice or an opinion, some may meet your needs, others will not. Bottom line will be what you want the car to do for you and how much you're willing to spend.

Work on your driving skills and build the potential of the car up and learn as you go, or you'll end up like this.......................

WELL thanks everyone.

Hmmm i don't have a limit on my funds as of right now. My purpose for the car willl be a weekend driver/circuit racing.

Here is a very open and simple question to you guys:

What would you do to a stock 7 to modify it for the track but also be able to adjust it to drive it on the street.? No emmisions either so don't worry about exhaust components passing SMOG.
