..hmm doesnt sound good, wierd gas

Ok, this just happened tonite before i got home...
Sometimes when i turn on my car and let it warm up the gas, and rpms, go up and down by itself then settles out and idles nicely...well after i got home from work tonite i parked then before i turned it off i noticed something.. it was doing that thing as if i was pushing the gas then letting go by itself...i was like what tha? so i went to drive around the block and sure enough everytime i was at a stop sighn it would idle that way. the rpms would go frm 1-2 with the clutch in and would idl rough.. when i sometimes turn it on and it does it. the rpms are more like 11/2 - 3.. I havent taken the car out n e more tonite but i wanted to ask you guys what could the problem be/?? is this a case for the scooby doo gang and the mysterious ghost pushing the gas to make me freak bout my rpms going up and down, or is there a logical awnser???

Your engine is doing what is called "hunting". More than likely you have a vacum problem or carb issues. I am not too familiar with Wakels so hopefully someone else can help diagnose the issue.

I had the same problem with my 85 GSL-SE. The throttle body secondaries were sticking and not closing all the way...allowing too much air at idle. The EGI computer was trying to compensate for that and causing my erratic idle. Pop the hood when it's acting up and try to close the secondaries manually. There's a lever below the TPS. Rotate the lever counter clockwise and see if it settles down. If it does, lube the shaft with Marvel Oil and work the lever back and forth. Hope that fixes it!
