Hi, from St. Louis - Need Help

Own 1985 GSL-SE. 54,500 actual. Virtually all original. Clean CarFax. Want to tune it up, but not pay dealer prices. Anyone know a reputable Tech in my area? Thanks in advance.

You may want to ask this question to the regional section of the forum.

Sorry not in your area to advise you on a place to take the car to. I wouldn't take it to the dealer either and not just because of the prices. VERY likely none of techs there would be familiar with a 1st gen and less with an SE. They would treat it as an old
car, replace parts and push it out the door. As above, would post in regional forum for recommendations and experiences members have had with particular independent shops and do some footwork yourself, ask around. How about inquiring at the shop where you have your more modern car serviced? If they can't service your SE,they may be able to recommend a qualified shop. If the car is running ok and not your daily driver, you have the luxury of shopping around for the best shop. Sounds like you have an unmolested specimen there, need to be careful where you take it for repairs. There are some horror stories out there, some from members here that regretted taking their cars where they did.

A basic tune-up is something you can do yourself.

Oil Change/oil filter/New Cap/Rotor/plug wires/plugs/Coolant flush and refill/trans fluid,diff fluid.
