Hey guys, have any of those who have done Jeff20b's DLIDFIS installs made a pictorial installation yet? Pratch and Carl, you guys are the best at this. I know pratch was talkin bout doin one once apon a time. I understand the diagrams Jeff supplied, but I cant find any pics in the forums of a, how the dizzy gets hooked up to the igniters, and b, the way you guys ran the switched power to the coils. I know I could sit there and probably figure it out, but I was hoping that someone had done a good pictorial by now... if no one has I may start doin one next week on my donor car just to see if I can figure it out, I've been searchin this for 2 weeks now since I stripped my nikki and would like to try this set up to see if it will idle better... thx guys.


oh by the way, most of the writeups in the archive looks fairly discriptive, but I cant seem to veiw any of the photos...

I'm not a 100% shure but I think the dlidlfis has evolved to 2gdlfis. Theres a good thread with pics somewhere. Also it seems alot less complicated.

DLIDFIS hasn't evolved into anything; it's still as awesome and uncompromising as ever. But you're right, the other one, with the 2nd gen coil, is easier for some folks to figure out.

Well thats good to know. I wasn't clowning on DLIDFIS. Thats some talent to figure it out. Your one of the pioneirs am I right? I was just saying that I think it paved the way for 2gldfis. I just been reading alot about both mods also and it appeared to me that people where mostly using 2g coils now. Thats why I said I'm not 100% sure

But to be clear. I wasn't saying anything bad about DLIDFIS. But some better close ups of DLIDFIS. Like, what needs to go where would be awesome. Like some tags from pic to pic for cross referance.

But I'm really diging 2gldfis, less stuff to mount, easy to make look nice. But I was looking into DLIDFIS first. No parts have been purchased yet, so I'm open to eather. What are the pros and cons of both? Does eather do somthing the other doesn't? Sorry for asking so many ?'s but since the topics already here. Might as well share some thoughts experience.

I will miss the back firing though. Kept tailgaters back, and I like loud bangs for some reason?????

I haven't upgraded the ignition on any 1st gens yet, so I'm not the best to ask about installing DLIDFIS in a 1st gen specifically. All I've done is upgraded old rotaries from points to DLIDFIS and some rotary conversions (510, MG etc). However when it comes to the wiring of a 1st gen (the FB, specifically, but also the SA), I'm as ignorant as the next guy. I guess there is a tach wire that somehow connects to the trailing coil's - (negative) connection on an FB (or the leading coil on an SA due to their semi-firing trailing to keep the thermal reactor happy), but I don't know where it intersects the wire run from the C terminal on the ignitor. If anyone has an answer it would help me out.

I've been reading alot on this site, and your a little clued in on some of the wiring or at least a expert on the dizzy. Wasn't that you doing the budget 12a 4 rotor? Its been a few months and I have a really short term memory. if so That was sslick looking build. Did you ever finish that? Well If that was you?

Clue: Jeff20b, don't you start a fresh 4 rotor build on the first of every April?

Lol something like that, eh Jeff? Oh the addition of that tach wire shouldn't make a difference, should it? I don't think so. Should be able to hook it right back up. I believe its wired straight to the coil. And yes the 2nd gen setup does seem easier, I just happen to have everything I need to incorporate Jeff's setup.

Also Jeff, what's a carbon button? I know about enuf of this system to keep it running, but I've never heard of a carbon button
